Rodney Garner back to the Plains?

Hadn't seen much chatter here about him, so I figured I'd post what's being talked about here in our neck of the woods:

Auburn talks to UGA assistant about coaching vacancy

By Marc Weiszer

University of Georgia assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner has talked to Auburn about its head coaching vacancy.

Georgia assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner has talked to Auburn about its head coaching vacancy.

The Tigers are searching for a replacement for Tommy Tuberville since he left the job last week following a 5-7 season.

“Auburn University, my alma mater, contacted me recently about its open head coaching position,” Garner, an Alabama native who played for the Tigers from 1984-88, said through a Georgia spokesman. “Based on my respect for the Auburn program, we had a conversation about that opportunity.”

The 42-year old Garner, also the Bulldogs’ defensive line coach, is in his 11th season on the Georgia staff. The former Tiger, who was an All-SEC offensive lineman and team captain at Auburn in 1988, served as an Auburn assistant from 1990-95.

The Birmingham News reported that Garner interviewed on Sunday with Auburn officials. Miami offensive coordinator Patrick Nix, another former Tiger, also was to interview.

Buffalo coach Turner Gill and Ball State coach Brady Hoke are reportedly also potential candidates, along with Florida State offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher — another former Auburn assistant — and Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson.

Reached by phone Monday by the Banner-Herald, Garner referred questions to the Georgia spokesman, who released the statement.

“My family and I love Athens and the University of Georgia and are completely happy here,” Garner said. “I’m sure the process will take its proper course and I don’t think it would be appropriate to comment further at this time.”

Georgia coach Mark Richt last year said he thought Garner had attributes that would make him successful running his own program in the future.

“I really believe Rodney will be an outstanding head coach because he understands recruiting, understands football, understands people,” Richt said at the time. “He is very sincere about doing things with integrity. He has a lot of very good leadership qualities.”

I think they flashed some gay pornography in front of him before he took his official 2008 UGA picture:

Upon further review of the board, I have discovered that he has been mentioned a few times.  I'm getting too many names in my head to remember them all.

Can we just get somebody already?  I thought there was supposed to be an announcement by today or something like that.

Courtesy interview I'm sure.  Nothing more, like Nix.

No doubt that recruiting would pick up tremedously.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

Am I the only one who remembers RG leaving AU under questionable conditions?

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Why am I thinking of the name "Debo" from the movie "Friday"?

Okay, Singletary as HC. Garner can stalk around behind his crazy looking ass with this look constantly on his face. There is nothing that inspires fear like someone's insanity.

Same actor but I was thinking the street vendor from "Little Nicki".
