I just had a terrible, horrible, horrendous thought.

If you thought you saw the last of Chris Todd, think again.  Anybody remember who Todd played for when he first came out of high school???

Good God...PLEASE don't allow Leach to get hired.

I know everyone has their arguments and reservations, but a question about Leach...

What makes you think we couldn't put together a great defense if he is hired based on his offense?   Don't any of you figure that Auburn could pull a little better defensive talent than Texas Tech?

Just curious....

Yes, but it will still be a drop off.  This is Auburn football.  For some reason, it seems like a lot of people (people with power) want to change our image.  We aren't a spread team.  We aren't a pass-happy team.  We can win with a strong running game and a stout defense.  It's not like that style of play has disappeared.

Mike Leach might be able to do a fine job, but he will bring about Obama-like change.  It'll take a few years to get everything order.  We'll HAVE to give him at least three years to bring in his own players.  I really feel like we are in position to keep this train rolling with good coaching.  Even though some disagree, we DO have talent on this team.

Answer the queston....   What makes you think his offense can't produce if paired with a good defense?   Forget who the coach is.... for TWO seconds....

SCREAMING that he's a mediocre coach for fucks sake isn't an answer.

If his offense could score more than 14 points a game I'd be happy.

Just playing devil's advocate here....   What has doing the same thing gotten us so far?   Who's to say that Leach wouldn't utilize a running game at all?    I don't mind a change in "image" if it's an image of actually scoring and stomping people's guts out on defense.

SCREAMING that he's a mediocre coach for fucks sake isn't an answer.

He averages four losses a year for the last SEVEN FUCKING YEARS.  What the raging dinosaur fuck makes anybody think he's going to miraculously turn into some kind of fucking Hogwarts Wizard when he gets to the SEC where the competition is top-to-bottom better, the recruiting base is smaller and there are TEN good coaches to work against instead of just two.

Do you honestly think this wacky ass FUCK who doesn't give a shit about defense is going to become a defensive mastermind just because he comes to the SEC?

Christ a mighty.  What I've learned from all this mess -- from being wrong about Meyer to being right about others -- is that you can look at the historical record of a coach and see pretty much what you're going to get year in and year out.

With this sloppy ass cocksucker, you're going to get FOUR FUCKING LOSSES A YEAR  Year in and year out.  At best.  Oceans of dick numbing mediocrity.  If THAT'S what this enormous prick Jacobs is gunning for, he needs to be fired, ass fucked by Flava Flav for six months, sliced into little bits by gerbils using dental floss and then fed to a pack of hungry chihuahua's one piece at a time.

I am losing my mind my rage is so intense.

Mike Leach is the worst possible hire Auburn could make. I can feel it in ever bone I have in my body, including the one that only appears every once in a while.  There is not a worse fit for Auburn in the country, period. He's Tony Franklin's bastard pedophile uncle and Terry Bowden's dimwitted cousin.

If Auburn hires this guy it's a DECADE-long setback.  Remember where you heard it.

Okay, so while your "answer" is full of twists and outstanding barbs.....   Who is the better choice and why?   I think your "thumbs down" list is pretty obvious...

Who do you support and why?  Who ISN'T going to be facing the same challenges you claim Leach would NOT be able to handle?   What makes ANY of the other candidates better?

You want a proven head coach? Somebody with an Urban Meyer-type resume?  My wish list starts and stops with Gary Patterson.

He took over a TCU team that had one -- one -- ten-win season since 1938. That ten-win team had LaDanian at tailback and Patterson actually coached the tenth win when then-coach Fran bolted for the Bama bucks.

Since taking over that team, Patterson has posted FIVE, that's right FIVE, ten win or more seasons. In his eighth year as head coach he's got more ten-win seasons than Tuberville or Saban.

How many ten-win seasons does Leach have in his eight years?  Oh yeah. One. This one.  The rest of the time he bombs out at four losses a year.   It takes Patterson at least two seasons to lose as many as Leach does every year.

The only drawback to Patterson is that he reloads.  His pattern is one season of five or six wins followed by two of 10 or more.

If you can coach, you can coach.  Patterson can coach.  Year in, year out his teams score about 30 points per game. Year in year out they give up about 13 per game.

You translate that to the SEC and you've got a championship.  As big as you want.

If money is truly no object -- unfortunately if Jacobs mouth is moving he is lying -- then this is the guy you break the bank for.

Period.

I say Mike Leach won't utilize the running game at all.  The guy is Tony Franklin on steroids.  He's a couple of play calls away from being June Jones.

Here's another big problem.  Auburn fans aren't patient.  We aren't.  We wanted to get rid of Tubs after 2003, which was just a few years after he took us to the SECCG.  We got rid of him after one losing season.  I promise you that the wolves will come howling when they watch Auburn suck next year and the next year.  It's going to take a while to get Leach's offense going.  I wouldn't be surprised to see us run him out of town and try to go back to "old Auburn."  As GatorsGhost said, it very well could be a decade long set back.

The worst part about the new HC is that it'll cause a four way split among the AU fanbase....Group 1 will be excited about the New HC, Group 2 will be pissed, Group 3 will be pissed because they still want CTT, and Group 4 won't even care because they really don't follow College Football...these next three years are gonna be awesome.
Hire Turner Gill.....or hire a Coach that the entire Rational AU fanbase can get behind, with Bill MUTHA FUCKIN' Cowher.

Why would one of the most successful NFL coaches ever come to Auburn? Bill Cowher is a great coach, but why the hell would he want to take a job with the stress of us nut-jobs when he can sit in a studio and get paid pretty much just as much...Pipe dream my friend....Pipe Dream.

Not that anyone has asked for my opinion, but Gary Patterson would be a damn good hire.  I haven't seen a Patterson TCU team that didn't have an outstanding defense.  The man is a great coach and would be a perfect fit for Auburn football.  I also think it's a real possibility.

You is crazy.  A man can either coach or he can't.  Patterson has proved over eight years that he can, in fact, coach his ass off.

I hope Leach is a red herring.
