Now that it's official, who do we go after?
« on: December 03, 2008, 05:30:12 PM »
Who would your top 3 (realistic) coaching candidates be?  Here are mine (subject to change):

 - Chris Peterson (Boise State)
 - Kyle Whittingham (Utah)
 - Brian Kelley (Cincinnati)

**OFFICIAL COACH WISH LIST**

All I want for Christmas is...

1.  Will Muschamp to be worth the hype, and Auburn to have the balls to throw enough money at him to get him out of the UT contract.

I'm under the belief that we've already got someone.  I'm not sure the Tuberville move is made without it.  Look for a dog and pony show for a day or two, but otherwise, a quick announcement.

I'm looking at either Muschamp (who's recruiting IN STATE TODAY), or Butch Davis.

Fuck a mid-major coach.

We're better than that.

Bring me Butch Davis.

Butch.

Maybe TCU's coach. Maybe. Anything beyond that had better be a ridiculous completely unexpected splash. I doubt that'll happen though.

I've been told that we have a 0% chance of landing Butch Davis, from a guy in the 'biz.'

Muschamp
Davis
Peterson

I believe there is a dollar figure that could get a coach with his ego out of a basketball first school.  I think he'd go applepie.

As I said in another thread, I have been told that there is a 0% chance that Butch Davis will come to Auburn.  Things change, but if Butch is your #1, I would go ahead and start looking for your #2.

Thoughts on: Paul Johnson?

And I think it's realistic that we could get Spurrier, and I'd like to see that. I know many will say he's fallen off, but the fact of the matter is South Carolina is a barren wasteland that NO hall of fame coach can succeed at. I think he realizes this as well. Whether or not he cares, is another story.

I like Paul Johnson...at Navy...and at Tech.  I don't really want him here.

Spurrier is a relic.  He's too old.  He's lost the fire.  Fuck him.

I would love Paul Johnson (though I doubt he shows up), that's Auburn football right there.  Screw Peterson or Killingham and their pansy spread attack.  Give me somebody who is going to by God run the football!

You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. You laugh and tell him: "That's a girl's name!" Terry shoots you. You have died of dissin' Terry.

Paul Johnson couldn't excite a corpse.  Spurrier just wants to play golf.

It'll be a younger energetic recruiting ball of fire, or an established big name young enough, but experienced enough to make the playmakers make decisions.

Pat is the Coach at Samford.  Nix was hot for a while but I don't think he's the man.  Muschamp is my choice.

That will work. The last coach we stole from Samford went on a 22 game winning streak. :cage:

I wonder if we can get Tuberville?

In all seriousness, we fucked up. He's the best coach available at present.
