Vegas and Hockey, Eh!

Nothing going on here in the Foosballz Forum, so why not post it here?  Nobody is gonna' read it anyway.

Snagette and I spent last week in Vegas.  We did a lot of fun, more low-key stuff, because we're old and don't care about gettin' all up in the debaucheries and whatnot.  My daughter has been out there about 10 years now, and the main focus of the trip was that her long-time boyfriend proposed to her at the end of her show.  Really a great night.  But anyway....

We also went to a Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at T-Mobile Arena.  My daughter also works for that organization with the Golden Belles, basically a dance team.  Great experience overall.  It's a party outside the arena pre-game, and the fans are serious about their hockey.

As for the game, just a slight bit of a letdown for me.  I think I went into it with some preconceived notions and expectations that made it that way.  I had always heard that you can't fully appreciate hockey until you see a game in person, when you experience how fast the game really is, and how much hitting and action there is all over the ice.

Weeellll...not really. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a great game.  Fast paced, highly skilled athletes and a lot of strategy.  In fact, and don’t shoot me for the comparison, with the exception of a few rule differences, it’s very similar to soccer.  The goal is the same along with the movement on the field/ice, strategy etc.  Again, great game and fun to watch.  My only drawback was that it appeared to me that hockey has gone the way of the NFL.  I don’t follow the sport as far as rule changes and trends, but I got the distinct impression that the game has moved in the direction of less contact, more “safety”.  Very little checking on the boards, in fact, not a lot of hitting overall.  Granted, it’s very fast, physical game, but I was expecting more.

Still, a great experience, and great trip.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."
