In my best Seinfeld voice, "What's the deal with all these drones?"

What's your opinion about the drone hoopla?  It sure has been at the very top of the news cycles for the last week plus.  Me? I think it's a slow news cycle and they have to make something out of nothing.  I believe it's mostly private citizens F'n with everyone because it's getting a ton of attention. 

However, there are people who are genuinely worried this is some nefarious master plan.  A takeover.  An attack.  Now, not that I've followed it that closely, but the only problem I have heard of is a couple spotted over a military base, and yes, that would be a problem.

But for the most part, it sounds like they're flying over neighborhoods and cities.  Don't see what that accomplishes, other than the operator being able to say, "Hey look, Bob put in a new pool."

Soon as they saw me getting them on camera, as Goose would have said - they were "bugging out and going home". They high tailed it out of there and I never saw them again. Almost positive its nosey neighbors. They will meet my .22 next time.

For the ones in NJ, I would think they would be able to find out pretty quick if it's someone just fucking with neighbors.

I don't believe they are from another country - wouldn't have the lights on advertising that they are there.

Saw something Joe Rogan posted, where the owner of a drone company said they only thing he could think of is that they are looking for something/someone.

Not in relation to drones but I do believe you need to ask your mirror that question — and often.

Fur reelz though.....whether it's another country or snooping neighbors. Not many people's point. We don't know. I tend to agree with Jarhead here on the voyeuring neighbor theory. I don't like the idea of China flying drones over us. I also don't like the idea of a guy 800 yards away flying a drone and sitting it over my backyard on a whim. Neither is cool. When the hell did that become ok to do?? Thats a lot of the frustration. If this doesn't stop, you're going to end up with a ton of material for "Fear Thy Neighbor" on ID Channel for years to come.

I agree it needs to stop for both privacy and safety issues.  But to Jar's point, I can't see it being some foreign country with evil intentions.  You don't announce your presence by flying a bunch of drones over New Jersey.  Not exactly a matter of national security.
