Going it alone

Mick Mars and Ace Frehley have a little bit in common lately.  The ass of their respective bands (Nikki and Gene) publicly declared that the lead guitarists were unfit to perform.  Mick booted recently.  Ace booted at least three times over the last five decades. 

Both sprung solo albums last week. 

First Mick:




Seems pretty strong.  A combination of Crue and maybe Godsmack. Seems clear he can still play and he’s smart enough to get others to sing and write lyrics. 


Now Ace:



There’s something about the way he plays guitar that gets to me.  That loose, breezy, bendy sound is unique and I like it - a lot. But the vocals and lyrics.  Jeez.  So bad.  Amateurish.  Love Ace. His sound made KISS. But he just doesn’t need to front a band.
