WHY? Just why?

This is why I am slowly moving to only watching Korean shows.  They don't pander.   

I'm trying to watch Monarch: Legacy of Monsters on AppleTV.  It's a Godzilla origin story.   

So far, not too many monsters, but the story has promise.  And there's Kurt Russell.

But here we go, half way in and we've got to force a throwaway lesbian backstory just so we have all the bases covered.  Asian! Black woman! Asian Lesbian! 

Completely unnecessary.

Korean shows don't pander to the fringe minority.  American media is ruined by the .04%.

There are at least a half dozen series that I was enjoying which I had to abandon for this very reason.

An exception might be the movie Side Effects where the relationship was actually central to the plot.

Brokeback Mountain
and The Crying Game are two other offerings. There can't be but a few others where an alternate lifestyle is anything more than a diversion.

Speaking of Kurt Russell, I watched Escape from New York recently. I am not a huge proponent of remakes, especially when the original is such a classic. A remake of this one with a Chris Pratt or a Ryan Reynolds using today’s special effects could be pretty great.

I mean, but seriously.  Like 95% of all sheriffs, outlaws, cowboys, and marshalls in the old west were black and/or gay.  Didn't you know that?  The only white people out there were expendable dumbasses and primarily comic relief. 

Billy the Kid?  Black. Gay.
John Wesley "Shot a man just for snoring" Hardin?  Gay. Why else would he be with a snoring man?
Wyatt Earp?  Black.
Doc Holliday?  Black. Gay. Rapper.

Have been watching the series Lawmen: Bass Reeves but I'm about to abandon it because the main storyline is nothing more than a commentary on racism and inequality of the old west.
