Dolly Parton is 77 years old.  She just released an album of rock song covers.  There are 30 songs on the album including collaborations with people like Nikki Sixx, Sting, Steve Perry, Pat Benatar, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Kid Rock, Joan Jett, Elton, and Debbie Harry. 

She also has a Sirius channel featuring her songs and others she likes.   

I’ve heard three of her cuts so far.   She has such a unique voice.  And it’s still so strong. 

She could have been an amazing rock star (the name of the album coincidentally) if she hadn’t gone country when she was younger.   I kinda feel like we were cheated out of that by Porter Waggoner.  Could have maybe been one of the most iconic rock leads ever. 

I’m sure all the songs on it aren’t great but the ones I’ve heard? She nails them, staying true to the original essence while adding her own crazy vocal range.
