What is unique to the Auburn fan is that there have been far too few of the "all in a day's work"  wins OR too many inopportune losses which serve to substantiate that claim of fandom abuse.


These are the inexplicable losses which happen when the team can prove itself worthy of national attention instead of floundering into obscurity from wence it came.


We are inconsistently great at times and far too average when it really counts.

Taking the Carousel in a different, slow news direction.  Ronnie Cottrell stepping down after 9 greatly yuge successful years at Mobile Christian.  Coached at about 5 other high schools, as well as Carroll High of Ozark.  All indications are that he wants to get back in to college ranks, and rumors are it may be one of the openings at South Alabama.

Cottrell was at the center of Bama looking down the barrel of a gun back around 99'.  He actually won a huge verdict in a defamation suit against the NCAA and Tom Culpepper arising out of that.  Have no idea how any appeals turned out.

Had the opportunity to meet Cottrell years ago when he was at Carroll.  Our firm sponsored the Team of the Week award.  I remember him being extremely nice and accommodating. Anyway, slow news day.

No doubt. Just the other day I was feeling sort of low and less energetic than normal. A co-worker says hey John, I have some Arby's coupons and that brought an immediate smile. We didn't save much but those French Dip and Swiss meal's had healing powers, perked me right up. And it makes me happy knowing that somewhere in the wiregrass there's a lawyer intent on scoring a free mini Blizzard at a local DQ, not because he can't afford to pay full price but because it's officially free as indicated on the printed certificate.
