The Fighting Pearls outmanned D2, AUM, last night 102-66 in an exhibition game. John Eye Broome left early with a shoulder injury, but Pearl said it's nothing serious, and he'll be fine for Baylor. Aden Super-Fro-Holloway didn't dress out. Lord Bruce said he tweaked his ankle in a scrimmage against Furman, but should be fine for the opener as well.

I know it's AUM but we got some shootahs now. I don't care who it is, a 3 pointer is a 3 pointer. We missed so many open ones last year. Denver looks like the real deal.

And don't look a D2 win in the mouth - several teams have been losing these games, most notably Louisville, who got pantsed by D2 Kentucky Wesleyan. Auburn was without Aden and Johnni and did what they needed to do. Im cool wit it.

Just the first game. Baylor was our equal last night but it doesn't have to be that way if we can stop with the cheap fouls and untimely turnovers when we are at the verge of taking command. This team needs to take it to the hole and finish. No reason we shouldn't be living at the stripe.
Defense is already good. New additions blend in well.

Yeah, there was a lot to like from last night. They'll grow together as a team and we'll hopefully see fewer dumbshit turnovers. That was a great early season test and the experience will pay off as we get into the season.

Quick Thoughts:
Aden Holloway has a pretty shot and he has total confidence in it.
Denver Jones made some nice moves to the basket, which is a lovely complement to his outside shooting.
Johni Broom3, you say? My man added a deep shot to his repertoire.
Really like ICBM's physicality and willingness to get dirty.
Cardwell is a fucking force of chaos and I love him so much.
Glad to see JWill and CMo not just getting minutes, but contributing at a high level (shit, I think CMo even started).
Tre looks faster, somehow. This whole damn team is quick. There was a Cardwell block in the 2nd half and that mofo was MOTORING (what's your price for flight?) to the other end to play some O. You love to see it.

Come on in, boys, the water is fine!

I only watched the second half. The last few limited minutes were disappointing but I am extremely excited about the future for this team. I’m no expert but I think I’m ok at identifying talent. And we have a lot of that.

Turned out, I was the cause of the loss. Had been at the world famous, National Peanut Festival last night. When I got in and turned it on, Auburn was up 75-71 with about 5:00 left. Not a lot good happened after that.

Stupid turnovers and fouls, but the little I saw still had me feeling like this team is different. Last season was spent with Wendell Green and a bunch of tiny guards playing out on the perimeter all night. No real scoring threats on the floor. Even in a loss, 82 points against a Scott Drew coached team, and as athletic as Baylor, says otherwise.

Again, the pre-conference slate is brutal, but I have a feeling it's really going to pay dividends down the line.
