Haven't seen a game given away in a long time, quite like the Cubs did to the Braves last night. I'll take it, but wow!
On the Braves front, I'm getting that sinking feeling about the looming playoffs. Best record in baseball. Will most likely earn home field advantage throughout with a couple more wins. Setting records all over the place for home runs and run production etc. Historical regular season in some respects.
But, the playoffs are a completely different animal. All of a sudden, pitching takes over, and every game seems to be a 4-2 nail biter. Guys who have 35 HR's and 100 RBI's are inexplicably 2 for 18. And relying on pitching is unfortunately, not something the Braves have going for them. Max Fried is on the IL, don't know if he'll be available for the first series. Charlie Morton, same thing. Bryce Elder...suddenly very hittable. Spenser Strider....the one solid option, but he's been prone to 4 run innings lately.
I'm thinking we may have 162 games of, "Hell Yeah!!!".....to Pffffffffffft.
