I think he'd just had it with the type of questions. The team showed a lot of improvement and showed up against GA, and the first questions out of the press pie holes were questioning his decisions. I think he just said fuck it, and decided to get back with his team. He also visited with recruits immediately after, and by all accounts, those visits went very well.
I personally don't blame him for taking off. He might not give a shit about the negative press, but I don't think that translates to the team and what he's trying to accomplish there.
JMO...
But Chop, the questions are VALID ones.
Why didn't Brad Lester play? Nobody knows.
Why was Fannin sitting out with the game on the line? So far I've heard from Tuberville, Gran and Dunn. None of them knew. Two of the three seemed completely unaware that he hadn't been in.
Why didn't AU try to get the first down on fourth and two with 4:00 left instead of flinging a low-percentage shot at the endzone? Did Fuckfinger pick up Les Miles' playbook by accident?
Why did AU waste 27 seconds on the last drive trying to figure out what play to call? Those seconds would have come in awful handy on fourth and one at the 14.
Why, on fourth and two with 4:00 left -- of you're GOING to gun it for the endzone -- don't you at least roll Kodi out so he can maybe get to the corner and get a FD if nobody's open?
Why, when Mario Fannin is averaging nearly five yards a pop, do you keep giving the ball to 1.9 yard Tate to fall down two yards deep?
When you're making eleventy fucking billion dollars a year, you damn well better stand your ass up and answer questions about what you were thinking when you lose a winnable game.
Those questions don't discount the improvement. The "improvement" was enough to win the game. They do beg answers.
And for the record? Wes Byrum can kiss my ass. Fuck him. He needs to get his head out of his ass. Missed FGs against Arkansas put that one in the loss column. Missed PAT against Vandy tacked up the loss there. If there was ANY confidence that he can make even a chip shot FG, the late-game scenario changes dramatically. Fuck, if AU could execute something simple like a PAT, everything against UGA changes at the end. Byrum is personally, individually responsible for three or four losses. If he had his shit together, this disaster, as bad as it is, would be an 8-win season, working on 9. That's painful, but not a disaster. So fuck him.
