Book vs Film: Terminal List
« on: August 04, 2022, 10:31:28 AM »
Oddly enough, I haven't read Terminal List, the book on which the Amazon series is based.  I have, however, read The Devil's Hand, a later book by the same author.

The show is somehow 'controversial' because it doesn't celebrate gay pride or diversity or inclusion in a direct manner, the main character is in the military and doesn't wear a dress and high heels (or a dog collar) and treats enemies like the enemies they are... I guess.

I do know the author sees the world as it is, not as the phony globalist-socialist fantasy utopia peddled by the perverted left and their satanistic overlords. The author takes a legitimately harsh and honest view of the communist/Islamic invasion currently underway and the horrors it portends for the future of this country.  So I get why that evil faction hates the guy.

This show, however, isn't really controversial.  The lead character is fighting internal corruption.  He hasn't even turned his attention to the growing Islamic threat yet.  The sick-freak-woke 'backlash' is utterly unwarranted.  Fuck those people.

The problem is, though, that this show really isn't that good.  All the characters in the book are far more engaging, vibrant and interesting than the ones conveyed on screen.  The casting is atrocious from beginning to end.

I like Chris Pratt and he's probably the only person in Hollyweird willing to take on a character that wasn't celebrating the wonder of transgenderism.  But he's just not compelling in this role.  He's flat.  His emotional scenes are not convincing.  He's got just one note and it's off key.

Beyond that?  Jai Courtney is a joke.  Jeanne Flipplehorn is worthless. And that terrible piece of crap Taylor Kitsch has NEVER been a part of anything that's really good -- mainly because he's a major part of ruining it.  He sucks here too.  Awful.

The story itself isn't compelling because it's poorly rendered, not enough is provided to justify the behavior and reactions of any of the people involved.  I wish it was better.

The author writes moving, compelling books.  But because he doesn't subscribe to the "everything is fine" mantra in relation to woke social issues, he's raked by the woke fucktards as racist, bigoted, etc.  He's right.  Everything they think and feel is wrong.

Read the books.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

The show gets a ton of negative critiques but its not the same ones K is writing about. Its in the other direction. Wokesters don't like it. They hate the author. They hate Pratt. They hate that its mostly normal. But its more proof that no matter what you do, you are gonna piss off somebody....anybody.....everybody even.

I'm compelled to consider all aspects of a show.  It's my job.

I didn't say I didn't like it.  It's just not what it could be -- I think it may be that they couldn't get many actors to take the roles.

This from that communist piece of fucked up soy-slurping shit slate.com cinches it for me.  Even if I didn’t like the show (and I do despite its faults) I’d like it now.

Yes, this is, as the Daily Beast’s review’s headline called the show, “an unhinged right-wing revenge fantasy.” Yes, it’s yet another invitation to worship at the altar of the Navy SEALs, who have become, in the decades after 9/11, our culture industries’ warrior saints, which isn’t good.
