57-22 at the half against Israel U-20.

We're much bigger and faster so we get to do what we want pretty much.

Defense is stifling (see above) and the offense is pretty disjointed with all the new pieces and the rotating to find good fits.

That said, the new guys are all impressive right out of the box.

Traore, Broome, Westry, and Donaldson are plug-and-play guys. Add them to a healthy Flanigan, Williams, Green, Jasper, Cardwell and Johnson and BOOM! You got something sweeter than YooHoo.

Flan looked like he found that step he lost after the Achilles last season.
Cardwell looked more athletic to me last season anyway and now he looks more like a leader out there as well.
Broome didn't impress, but Traore looked good.
Westry is going to be a matchup nightmare come SEC time.
KD looked like KD...but the 3 ball touch might be coming back around.
Green looked like Magic Johnson for a couple series, then looked like Fred Johnson for the next couple.

The craziest thing to me was watching 5 or so minutes of play, then seeing a couple of subs come in and thinking "oh yeah, I forgot about him." This team will be deep once again.

Disagree about Broome. He was a constant presence under the basket and worked the defensive end hard.

Total agreeance about the depth. This team could run just about everyone to death and keep putting fresh legs on the court.

I only got to see the first quarter and a half. But I caught myself going, "Damn it, slow it down a little. If you'd just...." Then I remembered, that's Lord Bruce. That's his style. Remain calm.

The competition this game is much stiffer, the players more experienced.

Chris Moore making a strong case in the first quarter for more PT.

Wen, Broome and Moore had good games, but the size of the Israeli team was too much.

Great experience for this team, both in the bonding experience of travel and the good competition on the court. This will pay dividends later in the season.

We are still missing that one guy that can kill the three.

If we have that, the defense will loosen up and let the big men play more. And it would have really stressed the Israeli team with 5:00 left.

I was wrong with my earlier assessment, our second team guys are still second teamers. Broome is smooth. KD is still that guy that will spark the team, or kill momentum. But he is fun to watch. We need more consistent shooters. Westry seems to have a good shot, but I think the speed of the game has him a bit off. Traore looked done by the end. He was loafing down the court. I still have no idea about Flan. I’m not sure he does either.

Have some good game film to point out some big holes in the half court defense.

Some things to keep in mind:

It’s august.

Half the starters are new.

Half the reserves are new.

This today was the all national pro team. These are full grown men that have been doing it for a living for a while representing an entire country.

International court.

International rules.

This is going to be a really really good team this winter.
