I recall last year, a few national reporters were saying that Bruce Pearl was the face of what's wrong with college sports. Probably just some folks with an axe to grind, because I never understood what the uproar was over what he had done. Also never understood why the NCAA came at him so hard when he was at UT. Now, I'm going completely by memory and haven't looked it up, which is really scary at my age, but wasn't his major transgression that he lied about having some players over for a barbecue or something like that? I just recall thinking how out of proportion the punishment was to the "crime". At Auburn, there's been no indication that Chuck Person's little side bidnezz had anything to do with Pearl and gave no unfair advantage to the program. But we have 2 top players sit for like a year and a half, we impose a ban on post season play, and some still think we may get hammered.
Anywayz, I saw this pop up the other day and thought, WTF is going on at LSU and why are there never any consequences. Will Wade is literally caught on tape saying he paid a player. Crickets! There are numerous accusations coming out and a scathing USA Today (Fuck em') story on years of rape, sexual misconduct in the football program and the University sweeping it all under the rug. Now, I see a piece on AU Undercover, a blurb of which is below. How are there no repercussions for this program?
"Three years before Louisiana State University fired him, head football coach Les Miles weathered an internal investigation into allegations he sexually harassed and made sexist comments about student workers, USA TODAY has learned," the report reads. "At the time of the 2013 investigation, done quietly by an outside law firm, Miles was one of the nation’s most successful and beloved coaches in college football, one of an exclusive club to win a national championship. Though his actions were deemed to be improper, Miles appears to have faced no public repercussions from LSU."
