Better games this week, on paper anyway. The two Biz Markie match ups are clearly the #7 War Eagles going to #4 FUGA, and Fisher's Faggies rolling into T-Town to face the Midget's Minions. A few other SEC games of note:
USCe @ Gusty Gaytah: Initially, I'd say the noise alone at the Swamp would be worth a touchdown's difference. But 17,000 chomping fans really won't do much in the way of intimidation. Trask and his reptiles scored at will on Hobby Lobby. And did it with ease. They also allowed the other side of the scoreboard to go ding-a-ling-a-lot, which is surprising to me because Gaytah is normally quite stingy. However, the 411 on The Black Bears is really good offensive talent....and REALLY bad defensive talent. Having said that, the Cocks ain't the Rebels on offense. And they gave up 31 at home to Jared Guantanamo Bay. They'll give up more this weekend.
UF: 45
USCe: 17
Arky @ MSU: The Hawgs are a bit better, but still bad. Have no clue what to make of The Pirate dropping 623 yards passing on the Fighting Nutrias. I think we all predicted MSU would get their points against a totally revamped LSU squad. But holy damn, that was borderline scary. Is LSU's D that bad? The Dog passing attack that good? Combination of both? I guess time will tell. I did hear one of the "expert" talking heads say the biggest problem was that Bo Pelini (sp?) stubbornly refused to come out of press man, and if you don't keep Leach's passing attack in front of you, you're asking for exactly what they got. If that's true, look for the Arky staff to take note and change things up to slow the Dogs down. Still:
MSU: 42
Arky: 20
A&M @ Bama: I watched a little of the Tide's dismantling of Mizzou. Didn't read much into the final score because I saw 2nd the 3rd teamers in during the 3rd quarter. It looked like Bama jumped out to the big lead and cruised. And yes, Bama is loaded again on offense. Huge, experienced line. Nah-Gee Hurrs blowing through holes and two of those shitcherpantz fast receivers, one of which kept putting his hands on his hips in JHS. Bastard! A&M skruggled with Vandy and they just can't go into Brunt Danny Stadium without all their weapons, which is exactly what they're going to do. I don't see it.
Bama: 37
A&M 14
Auburn @ FUGA: Despite getting skull fucked by the Fighting Burrows in the SECCG, the nasty Dawgs had the #1 overall defense in the nation last year, giving up 12.6 points a game. Guess what. They're loaded again. That doth not bode well for an offense that's breaking in a bunch of newbies on the O-line. Enter Chad Morris. As Weskie alluded to earlier, he's going to have to earn his pay on this one. The article I posted from AU Undercover verified (although I'm still skeptical) that Gus has relinquished the play calling duties and it's the Morris show. That gives me hope. Keep em' off balance all day and we have a shot.
FUGA, on the other hand, has a QB issue. They played 2 last week against the Hawgs and the one they thought would start is just now returning. It took them quite some time to get on track against the Piggies and I have to think our D is a couple of shelves above theirs. If Chad works some magic and the D keeps us competitive....so you're saying there's a chance. I have my doubts, but I'm calling it:
AU: 27
FUGA: 24
Feel free to talk amongst yourselves.
