Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Congrats to Larry Walker for making the HoF.

And congrats to the Braves for signing Ozuna. You’re paying one million for each home run he will hit. Thanks for the draft pick!

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

I wish him nothing but the best, but we said that when we traded for him, and without Stanton protecting him, his production dropped (which I get), but then we get Goldy, and his production...  didn't really improve.

2016 (Miami)  .266/23 HR/76 RBI
2017 (Miami) .312/37 HR/124 RBI
2018 (STL)  .280/23 HR/88 RBI
2019 (STL)  .243/29 HR/89 RBI

If I had to guess a 2020 stat line for him, I'd go with a .265/26 HR/85 RBI

False.

He hit 40 HR and drove in 950 runs against the Braves in the playoffs.

BTW?  It's an Atlanta tradition to grab the guy who hammered them and then watch that guy turn to crap.

Bruce Sutter?
Dan "Chopper" Uggla?

There are others.

That is the scary part.  They've had a long history of doing that.  My hope in this instance is that Ozuna was the best available to fill the power hitting role that Donaldson's departure opened up.  Maybe they weren't enamored by what he did in the playoffs and wasn't even their first choice.  They did try hard to get Josh back, but he was just asking too much at his age.

For me, if we can get a little better stat line than what Jar posted, closer to 30/95, he'll be worth it.

Even if you don't, it's a one year deal, so won't set you back years.  And shit, maybe he hits .315/35HR.  If he's really wanting to make bank, and get a multi year contract from some dumb organization like the Twins, then he needs to.

And Cards did offer him 17.3m, but he spurned us for your 18m.  So not like at least two teams thought he was worth it.  Me personally, I think he's a liability in LF, and doesn't hit consistently enough to warrant that kind of contract.

His time with the Cards surprised me.  After that monster 2017 season, I thought that was the steal of the century.  Turns out, he was probably juicing pretty heavy that year.

I will say this, Schwarber should stick with his offseason program as he had last yr. 2019 was his best yet in the bigs. His most at bats with his best batting average at .250 and 38 dingers. Annnd, a lot less duh moments out in the field.

Point of parliamentary procedure, sir.  You're still within the 5 year window of a championship, and are forbidden from bitchin' and moanin'.

They were gonna end up paying Donaldson 1 mill per as well in the 3rd and 4th years of that contract. At least azuna is less money and Braves are only on the hook for 1 year. I’m ok with it.

Yeah, it's not going to hurt you guys long term if he doesn't produce.  And he's got every incentive to produce.  If he does, someone will sign him to a long term deal.  If he doesn't, then he gets paid much much less.  And I'm just a bit bitter because we gave up Sandy Alcantara (2019 All Star for Miami), Magneuris Sierra (.190 batter last year splitting the season between the majors and minors, but limited at bats at the major league level), Zac Gallen (called up in June went 3-5 with a 2.66 era and 91 Ks), and Daniel Castano (7-4 in the minors, 3.48 ERA, 104 Ks in 119 IP) for him, and only got basically a two year rental on a guy we expected to hit 35+ HR.
