If he can field an SEC caliber defense, this could get very interesting!

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Any chance Kiffin and Leach will be at SEC Media Days on the same day? That is worth a visit.

Agreed.  They'll up and beat some teams every year that they shouldn't simply because there's no way to really simulate and practice for the true spread/pass 90% of the time offense he runs.  But, it's still MSU and they'll still never have the overall caliber athletes to compete for the West.

My n*****

We agree.

Is anybody really afraid of this guy?

His reputation is bullshit.  The State people I know are strutting and preening, bragging and crowing about the "home run hire" they just completed.  I think not.  They're going to get those peacock feathers shoved back up their ass sideways before it's over.

In his entire history as a head coach, the guy has coached a team that finished in the top ten ONCE.  His Texas Tech teams were middle of the pack in the shitty Big12 and fared only slightly better than those Tuberville fielded when he was there.   The Pac12 is worse than the Big12 and he didn't do much of shit there either.  One pretty good season and a bunch of pfffttt.

He's known more for the idiotic things that he says in press conferences than he is for accomplishing jack, shit or squidoo on the field.

I'd like to say I'm going to enjoy watching Auburn smack his ridiculous ass around, but I don't trust Gus at all when it comes to that.  I'm afraid our own resident whackadoodle will be intimidated by the parrot's alleged wizardry and make use of all the dumbass pages in his secret playbook when we play them -- in hopes of impressing the original whackadoo.  So instead I'll take my pleasure from watching LSU and others lay run-him-out-of-the-league level ass thrashings on his Bullpunks.

while I agree, look at it through their goggles. He may be the best hc “hire” they’ve made just based off established resume. Keyword hire. Nobody knew Mullen would do what he did when hired.

We see him as slightly above average but for them it’s pretty good. They’re an all time .500 program. in the end it won’t matter. They may end up with a few more wins then they had with Moorhead. Or croom. But nothing crazy. Also depends on if MSU and ole miss are gonna start playing the freeze game again.

too bad its not gonna be enough to keep up with the Sabans. Not even close.

mullen was a once in a lifetime coach for them with Dak.

Also I'm not sure I wouldn't take Leach over Sam Pittman at Arkansas.  Time will tell on that.

I still think they'll never be able to recruit well enough to consistently make any noise in the West.  Maybe the odd overachieving year or two.  But, the thing is with Leach, if he embraces the fact that you HAVE to play some defense in this league, they'll have a chance against anybody they play.  However, if he takes an approach of trying win every game 49-46, he'll win 4-5 a season, tops.

I get the hire from the MSU standpoint. I do think Leach would have played and worked better at Arkansas. No in-state rival to compete with. No natural rival in the SEC. Different, more tempered expectations.

Agree. I honestly thought he (leach) was a better fit for Ark. They have better facilities, are historically more successful and better overall recruiting territory. They also did well under Petrino with the wide open O. You'll always have that lower ceiling at MSU and a Mullen-esque type hire combined with a player like Dak is only going to fall in their lap like that once in a century. I think Leach is as good as they could realistically have hired right now.

Oh. Pittman was a dumpster dive.  Like scraping up a rust-flecked half-eaten honey bun from a greasy puddle in the bottom of an alley dumpster dive.

it could turn out that the honeybun was well enough covered by the cellophane wrap that it’s not only edible but delicious.  Or it could taste like soggy hippo ass and give you food poisoning.

Leach is, comparatively, a much higher profile hire than Pissman.

But if AU had hired him? I wouldn’t be beating my chest about it.  I’d be beating my head against a wall in despair.

Oddly enough?  They pretty much think we are.

Ask a State fan and they consider themselves basically equivalent or maybe a half-step above Auburn.  I mean we had that one year, but that was only because we paid a player that truly loved MSU. His dad forced him to go to AU for the money.  You know this.
