Times are different

Something weird to ponder.

Nick Saban is currently the same age as Bahr Brunt was when he retired.

He’s three years older than Shug was at his retirement.

Eight years older than Neyland and Vaught were when they stepped down.

He’s on the verge of being the oldest coach in the history of SEC football.

Bryant looked like his great grandfather.

It's the PR team.

Pull up a pic of saban from his Michigan State days.  He looked much older then than he does now.

You can keep a wooden stake in your trunk
On the off-chance that the fairy tales ain't bunk
And Imma keep a bottle of that funk
To get motel parking lot, balcony crunk.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

I think a lot of older men look better now than they did 30 years ago. Hell I run with 50-60 year old guys who smoke my ass and look way better now than they did in their 30s. Modern medicine? Better general fitness? Hair coloring?

Either way, I think plenty of older people are just in better shape now than they were in the 70s and 80s.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

So outside the SEC.

Saban is four years older than Woody Hayes was when he punched out Charlie Bauman.

As an aside, that game is on ESPNU now and I just happened to turn it on seconds before Hayes lost his mind.  It's pretty distressing to watch Keith Jackson (who I think I used to like) and the film crew try to cover up for Hayes.  He flat out ignored the incident and blamed everything else for the brief melee that followed Woody's fateful punch.

Jackson pretended like he didn't see anything and then the replay stopped short right as Hayes grabbed Bauman each time they showed it.  Still, there's no way Jackson failed to see Hayes repeatedly punching Bauman.  He just didn't want to mention it.  Jackson even claimed the flag thrown against Hayes was for "being on the field when he wasn't supposed to be."

Something else I noticed?  After the pick, Bauman was wrestled to the ground in front of the OSU bench by Gamblin' Art Schlichter and right at the feet of Hayes.  Bauman popped up and started talking shit.  Not to Hayes specifically, but at the players around him.  You could see his head popping and it was obvious some jawing was going on.  All these years I've thought Hayes flipped his shit as a result of the interception and the inevitability of losing.  But while that was a contributing factor, it seems like now that it was probably Bauman's yapping that pushed him over the edge.  THAT, I understand a lot more than just going apeshit over the play.

Don't get me wrong, I never liked Hayes.  I thought he was the Bryant of the North. He talked shit about Auburn before I was born.  In that rivalry I was always, always a Michigan guy.  Now?  Not so much.  I can't stand Harbaugh.  I'll be digging out my Michigan stuff for New Years, but that's temporary.

Speaking of throwing hands.  You might want to let the ref get out of the way before you launch another one.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."
