At the beginning I said we might be a better team overall but post a worse result.
Exact opposite. Not as good a team top to bottom, but put up the results.
Anybody remember going to Kentucky last season? Had already lost eight games when we got there (Feb 23) and got the shit pushed in 80-53.
This team scrapped its ass off in Rupp Saturday. Should have, could have won. I was happy with the effort, proud that they were pissed not to win. That's refreshing.
I'm mystified at how we went from fantastic at the threes to god GOD, don't do that seemingly overnight and I'm frustrated at the complete inability to hit free throws when we really, really need them. Shot 12% from three point land in the second half. Missed nine free throws. That's not negativity, it's just a fact.
Kentucky had 27 points just from free throws (AU only attempted 22 of them all night) and that was the difference in the game.
Was it home cooked? Sure. But we got our own version of the same dish when we played them in Auburn.
I'm down on the status and future of football program. I have zero confidence in Gus to do anything but investigate his own rectum. I think he's a decent guy, don't think he's dishonest. Think he wants to do well, but as I've said for years (literally) he simply does not have the resume and experience to effectively manage that job. His decision-making can be absurd. The flip-flops between taking control and letting his people run are cookie-cutter examples of new managers struggling to do simple things. It's like Jim on The Office setting up a group birthday for the month. Rookie mistake. He keeps making them. Not because he isn't trying, but because he just doesn't know any better and has ZERO sources for consultation. Chad Morris? Fuck me with a blood-stained spoon. Really? I'm still bitter over that bonehead move.
But I'm not down on this basketball team. Don't think I will be as long as Bruce Pearl is there.
Fuck the NCAA. Why even invoke that shit. It's like Candyman. Stop saying it.
