After the first few threes, they convinced themselves that they could shoot threes. They lied to themselves.

Team might make the 32 or even 16 if lucky horseshoes glow bright, but this has the look of a 5 that gets bounced by a 12 to start the tourney. Future is still bright (pending NCAA hammering, that is).

At the beginning I said we might be a better team overall but post a worse result.

Exact opposite.  Not as good a team top to bottom, but put up the results.

Anybody remember going to Kentucky last season?  Had already lost eight games when we got there (Feb 23) and got the shit pushed in 80-53.

This team scrapped its ass off in Rupp Saturday.  Should have, could have won.  I was happy with the effort, proud that they were pissed not to win.  That's refreshing.

I'm mystified at how we went from fantastic at the threes to god GOD, don't do that seemingly overnight and I'm frustrated at the complete inability to hit free throws when we really, really need them.  Shot 12% from three point land in the second half. Missed nine free throws.  That's not negativity, it's just a fact.

Kentucky had 27 points just from free throws (AU only attempted 22 of them all night) and that was the difference in the game.

Was it home cooked?  Sure.  But we got our own version of the same dish when we played them in Auburn.

I'm down on the status and future of football program.  I have zero confidence in Gus to do anything but investigate his own rectum. I think he's a decent guy, don't think he's dishonest.  Think he wants to do well, but as I've said for years (literally) he simply does not have the resume and experience to effectively manage that job.  His decision-making can be absurd. The flip-flops between taking control and letting his people run are cookie-cutter examples of new managers struggling to do simple things.  It's like Jim on The Office setting up a group birthday for the month.  Rookie mistake.  He keeps making them.  Not because he isn't trying, but because he just doesn't know any better and has ZERO sources for consultation.  Chad Morris?  Fuck me with a blood-stained spoon.  Really?  I'm still bitter over that bonehead move.

But I'm not down on this basketball team.  Don't think I will be as long as Bruce Pearl is there.

Fuck the NCAA. Why even invoke that shit.  It's like Candyman.  Stop saying it.

What a clusterfuck of an officiating performance.
On top of some incredibly crappy calls, the two technicals really changed the whole complexion of the game.  They had the momentum back but then had to play catch up the rest of the way and didn't have the magic at the end like they have so many times before.

To me, the biggest problem was once again, the first half.  After a 12-1 start, I think they only had about 15 points the rest of the way.  A&M was playing tenacious D, but we had no answer for it.  No screens to get people open.  McCormick couldn't beat anyone off the dribble and we kept needlessly turning it over time after time.  Not that we were in a huge hole, what 7 at the half?  But you just can't keep expecting to turn it on in the second half.

On two side notes, to A&M's credit, that man-child Nebo, killed us inside.  His game was skrong.  And, I will concur with my esteemed game texting colleagues, GF and GH.....who was that bitch doing the color?  Please just put a huge sausage in your mouth and have a warm cup of STFU.

McCormick couldn't beat anyone off the dribble and we kept needlessly turning it over time after time.

At one point, after McCormick had the ball just taken from his hand, I started to wonder if we had another point shaver.

As for the color broadcaster, Brooke Weisbrod, I like her.  She's still pretty green, but a goddamned sight more pleasant to listen to than Beth Mowins.

Solid today.  I know it was against a UT team that has quit.  But it was a good win away from home and a consistent performance beginning to end.

Double-bye in the conference tourney...good or bad?

Fresh legs are nice, but these guys need all the reps they can get as it still appears to be a work in progress.

Sweet Sixteen?  First round bounce?  How deep do they go?
