I listened to the exhibition game against Eckerd on Friday.  These guys seem eager to start running the floor.

On a totally useless and unrelated note, Austin Wiley came lumbering by our tailgate Saturday.  Talked to him for a brief second.  He's very tall.  Taller than most.

They will get there...did some good things did a lot of not so good things.  Won the game against a decent opponent.  This is not the Ga. Southern football team.

Looked like a team full of freshmen trying to figure out how to play together.  Saw a lot of promise out there though.  When they do gel, look out.  Okoro looks like a fully growed man.

Gonna go see them play at South Alabama on November 12.

Agreed, they were sloppy with turnovers especially the 1st half. Second half, much like last year, Pearl got in their ear and they made adjustments. 2nd half, they all worked much better together. Seemed more like an even flow. Like mentioned, GA So is not a slop team. They will be a nightmare for many top tier teams all season long.

3 things Auburn needs to work on.

1 - Turnovers. I think that comes with more games and working together as a team.
2 - 3 point shot. Many 3's were off target last night.
3 - Wiley. Get the ball to Wiley. He was open a good bit last night. Those are the easy buckets. Wiley looks to be in great shape.

I had to remind myself several times last night to not measure this years team on last years. There will be a different look. One thing I do know that is constant is Bruce Pearl will be relentless in making them better.

This means nothing as far as the potential success or failure of this team.  But, it's nice to watch an Auburn basketball team that looks like a bunch of full grown men.  They look like they can match up physically with anyone.  It's been forever, maybe Cliff Ellis forever, since we didn't look overmatched physically against just about anyone we stepped on the court with.  I like what Mr. Pearl has done there.

As a side note: Caught most of the second half radio broadcast. Burcham to me is a tougher transition with the basketball play by play than he is with football. 
Understand it's gonna take some time for Andy to follow and call the play on the floor it's just that Rod and Sonny were such a smooth team together and I really miss how they could seamlessly describe the action as it took place.
And it was fun all at the same time.

Was only able to catch the last 10 minutes or so, but sounded like a good win.  Davidson is another quality team that is testing these youngsters early.  

Purifoy seems to have not found his shot yet, but it's close.

McCormick jumped nearly out of the building late in the game.  I really like him at the point.

Beating Davidson in any given year is a quality win.  If McCormick develops a consistent outside shot, that might be a the key to how far this team can go.  He's athletic and quick as fuck. If they have to respect him on the perimeter, he could do major damage.
