Just saw an article about how the Wall Marks is now offering not only home delivery of your groceries, that you order on line, but also entering your home and putting them away for you. What....the....?
They already let you make out your grocery list on line, they'll do your shopping for you and bring it out to your car. You lazy bitch/bastage!!! It used to be that food delivery was pretty much limited to pizza. Now, if you want a Subway sandwich, someone will drive that thing right to your doorstep. I shouldn't say anything because Mini-Snags works part time at the Outbacks making deliveries.
We're now experimenting with cars that drive themselves. Have you seen the "mirrors" that will put you through a workout so you never have to set foot outside of your house? Back on the restaurants...are waitors/waitresses soon going to be a thing of the past? Why not...we can now just step up to the kiosk in some places and tap what you want, swipe the card and wait for the food.
Look, I get convenience. That's fine! But the trade off is quickly becoming a lack of mobility and the decline of personal interaction. I'm in no way exaggerating when I say a time will come, sooner than later, where we can function in just about all aspects of life and never have to leave home or have any personal interaction with another human being. It's already to a point where when we're together, we're not. Next time you're in a restaurant, look around and see how many people are sitting together but may as well have stayed home because their faces are melting into an iPhone.
Now get the hell off my lawn.
