I was sitting on the shitter this morning and thinking of an analogy about all this coaching stuff.
Say the new offense is a Wal-Mart table in the box. ( offense)
You have the tools at home, a screw driver, maybe a hammer, a level etc. (players)
You get back home with the table in a box and you get all your tools out along with the box and you proceed to put it all together and everything is going fine (bowl game, off season, first two games)
Then out of nowhere you spill your beer on the instructions and you can't read them ( Miss St., LSU )
You then discover that you have the tools, just not the right kind for this table, like you need a phillips head screwdriver instead of a flathead or your putting the screws in the wrong part. But instead of going out and getting new tools, you keep the ones you have and try to make them work ( Position coaches, QB situation)
At this point, you're thinking fuck it. I just spent some money on this table. I can't take it back, Wal Mart is closed so I can't go buy a new one. I'll just see if I can get it to stand and look presentable as a poker table because I'm committed to this damn thing. (firing CTF, losing to ARK,
So now, when the day is over you either go back and buy a new one and keep the one you have for bullshit purposes or go and get a brand new one that is already built, more expensive, and possibly not really the one you want. ( hiring a new OC after the season with a different philosophy)
Or, worst case, you drop a shit load of money, buy new tools and totally remodel your game room. ( Firing Tubs, getting rid of assistants)
