2019 Installment of MLB Bitchin' & Moanin'

So, it looks like the NL Central is going to be the division to watch all year. Cubs came back to the pack a bit thanks to the Dirty Red Birds. Cubs, Brew Crew, Cards and Pirates are all solid. But, we saw last night that the Bucco's bullpen may be Braves level bad. The Braves scored 10 unanswered runs from the 7th inning on last night.

Two quick notes: Dothan/Slocomb/Auburn got a mention last night on the ATL/Pitt telecast when Pirates reliever, Clay Holmes, came in. They talked about him being from Braves country originally. Raised in Dothan, played ball at Slocomb (Po-dunk community outside of Dothan) and was going to Auburn before the Pirates drafted him.

Don't know how long this will last, but Austin Riley is a beast right now. In 18 games he is hitting .324 with 9 HR and 25 RBI.

Another quick observation. I'm not much of a believer in conspiracy theories, except when it comes to Bama. But in case anyone hasn't noticed, balls are flying out of the park in record numbers. And I'm not talking about mine. Is the ball juiced? Have no clue, but I was starting to think that MLB was getting boring. It seems like every pitcher who steps on the mound can bring it at 95 plus. Hell, the Cards have a guy reaching 104 consistently on the gun. And the way managers use pitchers situationally, bringing in guys just to get that one batter in the 6th....the game just wasn't that interesting. And I love great pitching. But May saw the overall HR record broken and it looks like June may be no different. The Braves scored 12 last night. The Orioles won 12-11. The Marlins even hung 16 on Milwaukee. I'm kind of liking this.

Get off my lawn. I would much rather watch a 1-0 duel between 2 superstar pitchers than watch all the bat flips and the hippity hoppity music blasting at the stadiums.

And right on cue, I see this in my feed. Cubs are reportedly "pushing hard" to get Craig Kimbrel. Lord knows they need a decent arm in the bullpen that ain't got snakes in his head.

I'm not hating on Kimbrel or the Cubbies here. I'll leave that to Jar. I would love to have him on the Braves staff but only because our pen is filled with such supreme suckage. But I just don't think he's anything special anymore. 7 or 8 years ago, a reliever bringing it up there at 97-98 m.p.h. was something you'd better strap it on for. Now, it seems like 3 out of every 4 or 358/415ths of them are bringing that kind of heat. Like I said earlier in the wrong thread, the Cards have a guy hitting 104 consistently.

Every time I saw his bama-loving monkey ass waddle in from the pen for the Sox last year in the post-season I cringed.

He saved some games but only because he had a few runs to play with. In nine post-season games with Boston in 2018 (10 2/3 innings total) he gave up nine hits (two of which were homers), hit two batters and surrendered seven runs. I felt like Boston won those games in spite of him, not because of him. Prior to last season teams he pitched for (ATL and BOS) were 3-8 in the postseason when he took the mound.

I don't want him on the Braves. Or the Red Sox. Don't really want him on the Cubs. Whatever he had he's lost. I expect him to get tattooed in Chicago.

I think it was Bryant not to mention Baez himself was HPB, along with Rizzo and Bryant (the second time) and Hamels. Hamels dusted Arenado also after Bryant was hit. It was intentional and in the same spot as they hit Bryant (twice). My man crush for Hamels and Baez are now set in concrete.

Lets not forget, last year Rockies hit Bryant in the head with a pitch. It put Bryant out of the game on concussion protocol.

A little video rundown......fyi, Baez was not watching the ball hit the stands, he was starring down the pitcher. I love it!

Rizzo. They plunked Bryant like 3 times in the first 2 games of the series, so Hamels plunked one of their guys. Rockies pitchers hit Hamels on the foot, then plunked The Rizz in the ass. Baez proceded to hit a moon shot after that and stared the pitcher down all the way to first. Too bad it was the last time those two teams will face off this season. If there was a next game it would include a brawl and many suspensions...
