Well... Fargo?
« on: February 07, 2019, 10:09:07 PM »
Might be time to look for a new bank.  I was a major fan of Wachovia. When they got bought by Wells Fargo I stuck around.  It's been one minor screwup after another.

I've had them turn my credit cards off when I was in Biloxi -- because I was "out of state" and they were concerned about fraud.  Just tell me.  Don't let me find out that my card doesn't work when I attempt to pay my bar tab.   I had them turn my cards off when I was in Arizona meeting with clients. I told them a week ahead of time that I would be traveling. Didn't matter. Turned it off anyway.  Nothing makes a better impression on customers than the waiter returning to the table and announcing "your card was declined, do you have an alternate way to pay?"  I've had them give unauthorized access to my accounts to my ex wife.  Pull money out of private accounts and transfer it to business accounts.

Today's debacle was the worst.

Went to get gas.  Card declined.  Second card declined.  Went inside to the ATM.  Declined.  Tried to log into my online account to see what the crap was happening.  Nope.  Tried to call Wells Fargo customer service.  No answer.  Tried to call the local branch.  No answer.

Finally discover that some servers or something at Wells went down.

Seriously?  Every project I do has fail over redundancy.  If the primary servers fail, if the fiber is cut, if there's a fire or hurricane or flood or tornado, I have backup sites in another part of the country that pick it right up.  They are less than a second behind.  When we run tests, the typical user wouldn't even notice it went out.  I expect at least that from a bank.

To this point?  I haven't gotten a text, phone call, email or any other contact from Wells Fargo to notify me of the problem (is it possible they don't even know who their customers are with the computing machines down?)  And I have been provided no estimated timetable for resolution.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

I have noticed that they do this when you don’t pay them.
