Saint meltdown
« on: January 20, 2019, 09:50:49 PM »
I despise that strutting preening ewok Mark Ingram.  I hate watching him play.  I can't stand how much of his schtick is "look at me, look at me" even when he does literally nothing noteworthy. As much as I admire and respect what Drew Brees is able to do, Ingram and his PED cheating makes it hard for me to be for the Saints at any time ever.  That crimps my personal life because I have to fake it.  I wish they'd get rid of him to make it easier for me.

Making a Superbowl is never a given no matter how good a team is.  So in a way, I did hate to see the season end for the aging Brees today.  Hated that the game (which was a good one) will be forever marred by the PI call that wasn't made.  Well, by forever, I mean until one team or the other wins the Superbowl and then nobody but Saints fans will remember it at all.  But knowing them, they'll remember it for the next 490 years and bring it up time and time again.

The degree of melt is where I diverge from the Saint folks.  Calling for the ref and the Rams player to be assassinated?  C'mon.  Claiming that the entire NFL is rigged (which I think it is to a degree) and that it hates the whole state of Louisiana?  C'mon.  This meltdown is historic.

Yeah, it was a bad call, but I’m more pissed we didn’t run the ball on first and third down. I get leaving the ball in your best players hand, but we never should have been in a position to have a PI called.

That’s what I didn’t understand. It was a horribly missed call but why, when the Rams only have 2 time outs, are they even passing? Run the damn ball, take their remaining time outs and take the points.

People are blaming Dee ford for the Chiefs getting bounced. His offsides did keep the game from being over.

But...

The chiefs didn’t show up in the first half.  Any semblance of a pulse in the half and it’s a different game.

When it got to OT?  Why do you give the ball to the Patriots when you win the toss? Especially when the NE defense spent the entire fourth quarter getting gashed. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

I really dislike Gronkowski.

I was listening on the radio, coming back from a tournament, but I thought I heard someone say “we want the ball” when they won the toss.

Well dang.  Whoever I was listening to on the radio this morning ranted for ten solid minutes about the idiocy of deferring in overtime.

I didn't remember and went with that.

Ok, so it was Dee Ford's fault.  Crap.

Two killer games.  Couldn't ask for better.  What irks my undies is the fallout today from all the talking heads about how they have to change the rules now.  We have to review all pass interference.  We have to change the OT rule because Mahomes didn't get to touch the ball.

Jar and Token are spot on.  Horrible non call but they should never have been throwing the ball there.  Run run run the ball in that situation.

With regard to pass interference, do the refs ever get that right anymore?  Sweet Haysus, you see a little chicken fighting called on one play and an ass raping let go on the next.

Yep. And when Brees got a do over in OT (score tied, driving for the win), they blew it. He got a second chance in the identical situation and blew it. The game was lost for several reasons but only the one call will go down in history.

They were both great games regardless and like snags said, I hate they won’t get their due as such. All I heard was doing a 180 on all the rules. All day. This is America. Everything is reactionary and knee jerk.

Saints fans....

1) Petition to replay the game this weekend.

2) Players and coaches should sue the NFL for lost wages.  All agree they have a good case.

3) Have the name and address of the referee who didn't call PI.  Spreading it around.  All it takes is one idiot.

4) Petition to get stations in the Saints market to boycott Superbowl

5) Not my NFC Champion.  Resist.

6) Petition to force the league to restart the game with 1:40 left after correctly enforcing PI.

Melt of the century.

NFL to consider making PI reviewable.

GH is right. Knee jerk overreaction.  You could call PI or holding or SOMETHING on every play.

It’s asinine to think as Saint fans almost universally do that the game was rigged because of that call.  The only way it was rigged is it all the plays before were scripted, if Payton was in in on it to call that play, Brees was in in on it to make a crappy throw and the Ram DB was in on it too.

But if you start allowing penalties to be called from the booth? Then you are actually on the road to where rigging can occur.

It was a bad call. It wasn’t, as Saints fans insist, the apocalypse.

Don't care about the kneeling turds. But I did see the play. Its everywhere.
I don't think the PI should be readily reviewable. But I do think ANY play should be reviewable by the use of the red flag. That would allow for these egregious calls to be reviewed if, and only if, a coach had managed his reviews correctly.

Maybe the motherfuckers ought to be worried about how shitty they played the rest of the game.  Don't ever put yourself in a position to let the refs/a bad call beat you.

Fuck'em I'm glad they are melting down.  You know what else?  I hope New England wins again so I can hear more whining about how unfair life is to everyone else.
