Talked to somebody last night who knows somebody who knew somebody.  The guy is a Bammer, but a big hammer in Montgomery and has occasionally known things from his connections with the big mouthed boosters.  

He says the reason nothing is coming out from the AU administration is that what's going to happen has to wait until bowl season is concluded.  He says there is a plan and everything that's been reported so far is nothing but smoke to keep the vultures away from the "real" scheme.

I'm not going to pretend like this is true.  It could be.  Hell they seem to know more about our inner worlings of the program more than we do at times.  I just can't place a coach that is a splash/home run that is still coaching.  Riley?  Heupel? I don't see it being Kirby, Dabo Urban or the likes.

Because of his status as a Bammer he didn't get the straight "this is what we're doing" line.  Lots of innuendo and "it's gonna be big" nonsense.  

I hesitated to even bring it because it's more than likely a case of some big wheel wannabe running off at the gums.  The indication was Mason or the dude at PSU, though, yes.

The logic of this scenario makes no sense.  Think about it.  What good does it do to not make the move...both for us and the teams they're coaching?  If you're not going to the playoffs, it's now about one thing,...recruiting.  why wait?  Fact is. Malzahn is our guy.

Agree. Always about recruiting and in our case regional recruiting. All for big names but some guys just don't have a place here.

Franklin seemed to find success at PSU with a guy like Moorhead and a bad assed running back.
After they leave you've either replaced that "lightning in a bottle" adequately or you revert back to 4th or 5th best in your conference making strategic choices in games like you once did at Vandy. That feels remarkably familiar.
