The Gus defenders were quiet for a few days, but after the initial sting and embarrassment of getting punked AT HOME by a walking penis named Jeremy Pruitt (who will be fired within three years) they're starting to resurface again.
The talking points are:
1) We are five plays from being undefeated
2) We need the consistency of keeping the same coaching staff intact to build the program, can't keep starting over
3) Gus can't make the plays, he didn't throw those interceptions or let those teams score
4) We had a bad year in 2015 and bounced back!
5) He hasn't forgotten how to coach, sometimes things just don't go the way you want. If he was a good coach in November last year, he's still a good coach today
6) The kids (I assume the players) don't need us attacking them or their coach, they need to believe in him
7) The media is against us and things aren't nearly as bad as they make them out to be
8) Every team goes through bad spells. We have to support this team and these coaches! They need us!
9) If Alabama wasn't cheating to be successful, nobody would be this upset. We can't base what we do on what they're doing.
10) We support Auburn! Anybody who criticizes the coaches or the players needs to read the Creed!!!!1!
I'm going to tell you right now that I hate those fans. I despise a significant portion of our fanbase because we seem to think that we deserve whatever shit sandwich we're having to eat because of the Creed or something.
So yeah. I guess the fanbase is split and always will be.
