The Tigers' offense has been sub-par or worse for a few weeks now, and the defense leaked for the first time all season, so Auburn's loss at Mississippi State makes sense.

But the pass-to-run ratio was 38-21, and that is very unlike a Gus Malzahn offense.

Running back JaTarvious Whitlow had eight carries for 88 yards, while Jarrett Stidham attempted 38 passes. How does that make sense in a game in which the Tigers' opponent sat on anywhere between three and 16 points until the next-to-last drive?

Auburn is relying on Stidham as if he is an All-SEC performer. Through six weeks, he has not been close to that proficient.

• It was frustrating to see the AU offense begin the game by trying to establish the inside zone against State’s excellent interior defensive line anchored by Jeffrey Simmons. It took nearly two quarters of that for Auburn’s offensive staff to begin attacking the perimeter, which was predictably much more vulnerable.

Grimes is failing us too. These guys block like they are standing in a kiddie sandbox. Only Harrell is mobile and I would cut Brahms slack because he spent most of his practice time rehabbing and had never played center.
Before we finally turned the ball over on downs and there was a last gasp of hope, Ashley was beaten badly on three straight downs. The others aren't much better.
