Sad thing

This place doesn't even get excitable anymore.  Years past there would be 5-6 threads how pissed off we are and how much Gus sucks.  We are all just beaten down, facing the inevitable.

It's fucking sad!

I think it has a bit to do with the format changing (can we get someone who knows the format?) in message boards in general.  You no longer rant in long paragraphs like was happening when this board came about.  You rant in 280 characters or less.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

I Malranted enough last year and then had to shut it off because folks got tired of me saying the same things over and over.  (Snags underhand tosses the softball toward the plate)

Auburn did exactly what Auburn always does.  We had a little success, this time defined by two big wins against our rivals, and we opened up Fort Knox.  We did it with Terry Bowden and he was gone 5 games later.  We did it with Tuberville, actually because Jimmy Sexton played us, and CTT was gone within a year or two and the program in a shit pile. We did it with Chizik and within a year, the program was back in said shit pile.  Now we've done it with Gus and we all see the direction this is heading.

Several of you made excellent points last year in saying that Auburn was also a victim of timing.  The coaching carousel had almost ground to a halt and there was little if anything to choose from.  UT had gone through about 20 candidates themselves.  We almost had no choice other than reworking the man's contract.  But 7 years?

Gus lost me several years ago. I honestly don't think he has the confidence and/or self assurance to function at a high level on this stage.  I don't think he knows what he wants to do from week to week.  He's handled the play calling, given it up, taken it back, given it up, meddled like hell when we had a good thing going, hired a new OC and told everyone Lindsey was running the offensive show...and on and on and on.  The saga continues.  He should have been fired after the 5 QB, whirly-bird-fest, shit show against Clemson.  That in and of itself should have screamed to the powers that be, that this man had pretty much lost it.  And how much shit and frustration has gone on since then?

But...we beat Fuck Georgia and Bama.  That's worth 7 years and $50 million, right?

And seriously, what was wrong with reaching out to Patterson at the time?

Wait, they are paying him 4-5 mill I keep hearing. No way we can pull him without shelling out 5 maybe 6-7 million. Hold the phone. We just shelled out 7 mill a year for 7 years - ALMOST ALL GUARANTEED. But we couldnt afford Patterson. Got it.

Their records of success arent even close the last 10 years. Gus has 2010, and 2013. Lightning in a bottle with two stud QBs who gave 0 fokks. Thats it. Sorry not sorry.

I've got to wonder if it's just Patterson being perfectly content where he is and who he's coaching. No way every school in the country looking for a coach hasn't been reaching out to him for years.  Surely, he's had the Brinks Truck backed up to his door on numerous occasions.

Hes an asshole like Saban, Muschamp, those types.

Bama pulled Saban we when all laughed at the idea, and he rejected them once. Not sure why we arent asking GP to name his price. Just ASK. I get Petrino's baggage and shit like that. But no way GP doesnt wanna aim higher than TCU. Guy routinely plays with the big boys with much lesser talent. Thats what I want.

If I remember correctly, Patterson has had offers nearly every year to a top-tier University, but something always falls through. I agree, it could just be that he's more comfortable where he's at (he has been there for 20 years or so).
