Gus ain’t the problem.

Gus ain’t the problem.
« on: October 07, 2018, 02:47:49 AM »
Jarrett was a top 10 DUAL THREAT Quarterback out of high school and JUCO, if Gus was running the show he's smart enough to let Jarrett run if he wants , we obviously are getting Lindsey calls because he wants Jarrett to throw, Jarrett can Throw intermediate. He's Nick Marshall but slower. Deep balls are anticipating a receivers speed and it's instinct. This year everything looks forced. Wether it's stidham facing pressure or just the fact the play was for deep and so he feels obligated to chunk it without measuring it in his head. If Gus was calling plus we would see JS run it 15 times at least. Tell me I'm wrong please. JS ran a 4.65 laser at Nike, Marshall ran a 4.54. Not marginal, but still effective. We need Gus's offense back. If he goes back to 13 we will win every game here forward. Quote me

Damn, Gus posts on the X. You know there’s a house in Dallas with shorts on the roof because of you?  What’s your plan to fix that?

Let me be the first to tell you that you’re 100% full of shit. You sucker a school to pay you 50 million? You figure these things out. You improvise. You adjust. You groom players. You get the right guys in the right places on the field. No slack.

This will be the narrative pushed by Gus. He will then fire Chip, and bring Freezus and his girls to town. Barring his suspension.

Yes, Kristi, Gus is the problem.

Want a clear cut example?

Stidham looks EXACTLY like Barrett Trotter circa 2011.

He's got a good arm. He used to be mobile.  Now he waddles and cringes almost to the point of Moseley.  Why is that?  He doesn't suck.

Malzahn is getting outcoached, outprepared, out-motivated, out-performed by coaches like Ed Orgeron and Joe Moorhead.  He lost to one of the worst Georgia teams I've seen in my lifetime.  He's been out-played by Jacksonville State. By Southern Miss.

I've got a sickening feeling that he's going to get punked by Jeremy Pruitt.  Think about that for a second.  Jeremy Pruitt is as far from a quality college coach at this stage in his career than anyone in the league.

How can he stand in the coaches meetings in front of Kevin Steele -- who is doing his job -- and have anything to say?   Why wouldn't Steele just punch him in his face?

I've said it before.  I don't mind losing.  Every team (with exceptions) loses.  There are nights things just don't go your way. There are times the other team just has more talent. But I've never seen Auburn teams look as disjointed, unprepared, inept, impotent and listless as I have since Malzahn got here.  It's not talent. It's him.

Period.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

To original OP's point: Yes, Gus can't execute, he can't block, he can't miss wide open receivers for easy TD's,  he can't tackle.

However, this is the same shit we have been seeing on the field since 2014.  Ineptitude in the red zone, no changes to a failing game plan, no changes at all.  This is the same product over and over with different personnel and occasional bright spots.  The bright spots are not the norm, they are the exceptions.

We keep fooling ourselves every year with hope and optimism and he gets us every time.  As long as he is our coach we will be an 8 win type of team. For what he gets paid, I'm not ok with that.

Isnt it his job to get them to do those things correctly?

Damn if Saban and Meyer dont have their guys doing it correctly. Or Petersen.

I think Gus is clueless. He has a system. One thing goes south, he has no recourse. He has no idea what to do right now. And he is losing the whole damn team.

This is the problem.  Not the losing.  You can correct mistakes.  You can make course corrections.  But when the entire program stops believing in what you do?  When the mumbling platitudes you spout don't address what's wrong?  When what you ask them to do in practice doesn't translate into improvement?  It's over.

This team has more (percieved) talent than any team since 2003.  There's no excuse for the limpid, flaccid offensive performances we've seen.  When his one scheme isn't working he has nothing else.  Nothing.

He's a fraud.  He fooled me at the end of last season when we flat out mashed Alabama and Georgia.  But we did it by turning Kerryon into human hamburger.  I don't think he really outcoached anyone, we just lined up and were better than they were at some key positions.  When Kerryon was even a little banged up?  Pfffffizzzzzzz (the sound of a balloon deflating).  Gus had no answers.

The money is part of the problem.  He's not a Top 5 coach nationally.  He's being paid as such.

He keeps floundering like this and I don't see how the recruiting can stick.

It's a really bad situation.  I'm seeing his staunchest supporters bail now.  Lose to Tennessee and it may not be a situation from which he/we can recover.

He just doesn't get it.  I know you haven't watched all of our games, but go watch the end of the Southern Miss game last week.  When the game ended he has a big ol smile on his face and is clowning.  I'm not saying you have to be a prick like Saban and be angry all the time, but Gus had no business being happy after that game.

We looked like dog shit and our coach is mugging and clowning.  Saban would have chewed ass after a win like that.  That's the difference to me.

But I'm fully 100% convinced he will be ours for at least the next 5 years.  So just expect 7-9 win seasons.
