Anyone A Magazine Reader? Recommendation.
« on: April 11, 2018, 04:53:23 PM »
I'm not only old, I'm old school.  Still pick up a newspaper from time to time.  I might read an actual book, cover to cover, about once a year, but not really my thing. However, I love me some magazines.  My favorite, right after Penthouse and Hustler, is Garden & Gun.  Greatest mag around.  It focuses on all things Southern and covers a wide variety of topics, from hotels and resorts to hunting/fishing, cooking, recipes, fine whiskey (And DCP) etc.  Always great interviews with musicians and actors, both famous and upcoming.  I've read interviews with Gregg Allman, Merle Haggard, Jason Isbell, Matthew McConaughey and a bunch of others.  Each issue has a piece called "Good Dog" where an author submits a 3-4 page article talking about a furry buddy they had in their life.

Definitely worth a try.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

I seriously believe there should be more policing of Russian posts on here.

At the same time, there are plenty of other dumb threads that should be taken out as well.

Personal rules of etiquette:
1) Bathroom reading must be of the paper variety.  Newspapers, magazines and books are ok.
1a) Newspapers taken to the bathroom must remain there until disposed of.  Do not return newspapers to other areas of the home.  Each bathroom should contain at least one Reader's Digest, age is irrelevant.

2) No electronics in the toilet area.  In a public restroom the electronic item must be stored in a personal bag or a pocket.  It should not be out.  At home, tablets, cellphones, laptops, etc. should remain in the living or bedroom areas and never enter the toilet sanctum.
2a) Never, ever, ever text or snapperface or instapost or bookerchat from the restroom.
2b) Never, ever, ever answer the phone while on the throne. Ever.
2c) Never, ever, ever, ever, ever take photos of your excrement. I have a former friend who found this hilarious and would occasionally send me images of the latest rectal construction.  I cared not.
2d) If you are so important that you MUST answer phone calls while launching the brown canoe, invest in a bluetooth accessory for that portion of the house.  That's still horrible, but not quite as bad as sitting there with  your phone in your hand.

Are you saying that I shouldn’t FaceTime you anymore, at all? Or, just from the throne?

My library (Shitter-room) has many magazines.  That's where I do my best research.  However, in direct contradiction to K's post above, I will definitely have my phone out in the office or a public shitter.  I am extremely OCD about having something to read (Not talk or text on) while I'm growing a tail.  I'll pick up the can of Febreeze and read the ingredients just so I won't look like a dog in the front yard dropping a Saban with that stupid look on its face. I can be Prarie-dogging like crazy and running around the house holding my ass, but I won't go in there until I find my reading glasses.

Reading the list made me chortle.  Walked into the department bathroom yesterday and heard a voice...I was thinking how the fuck this guy know who just walked in from behind the door?  Then I heard more talking...he was chatting with his wife/girlfriend/whatever from the shitter.  I made sure I flushed several times when I was done in case the other caller didn't realize where this guy was.
