Panther. Don't care
« on: February 15, 2018, 04:53:29 PM »
Black Panther.

Don't care.

There's lots of blah blah blah about it smashing Deadpool's record, having a bigger opening than this, that or the other.

I'm gonna say no.  The discussions rarely talk about the movie being any good, the trailers don't back it up as being 'must see.'  Everything I see and hear is that the movie will make all this money because it's 'groundbreaking' or it 'crosses barriers' or 'has lots of black people in it'    That's not enough to take over the box office.  I also don't think it fits into the Marvel storyline very well.  It's like that weird uncle who's in the family, but not really a part of it.

So here's my prediction.  It will open strong, but will almost immediately spiral downward.  Reviewers will be loathe to criticize it, fearing being labeled. But the moviegoing public will vote with its attendance. The movie won't match Deadpool and within three weeks babbling morons will be blaming a "racial backlash" and wringing their hands.

I've watched the trailers.  It just isn't a compelling movie.  I've hung with this Marvel stuff even as I've grown to despise some of the people involved (that punk twerp Ruffalo for one).  I've watched most of the movies (Dr. Strange and Thor Throbbingcock being two exceptions).  I won't bother with this one.  It seems extraneous.

I saw the interview tonight on the national news where he stated words to the effect that, "everyone should be proud of their heritage", BUT especially folks like him. What the hell is wrong with European and British being ESPECIALLY proud of their heritage? That movie is only produced to further divide this nation between races. The harm caused by this film has yet to be seen. Thank Soros for all of this shit and turning the clock back 40 to 50 years (think BLM).

Furthermore, why does the south take the brunt of the responsibility of slave owners when the north had slaves long before the south was even inhabited by non-indigenous people?

I'm glad I wore green and still keep contact with most everyone with whom I served.

It'll top $1 Billion in sales worldwide within the next few weeks and that's without the China & Japan market (they've yet to open there).
It'll likely finish top 10 in highest grossing movie of all time.

Nook, not very nice to use that word. Even if it’s true.

I’ll leave this place quicker than Dallas. And quit bringing my head into the conversation. What does that have to do with anything.

You bitch.

And Wes that is hurtful saying I have zero skills. We all have to start out somewhere.

Not everyone is going to bang You like Chizzy on the first try.

You hurtful bitch.

And my comedy is golden.

Ohhh, Porterhouse! Look at the wax build up on those shoes. This is fine leather. I want that wax stripped off there, then I want them creamed and buffed with a fine chamois. And I want them now. Chop chop.

I though it was a quality entry in the Marvel pantheon.

Killmonger may actually be one of the best villains they've given us: his backstory is completely fleshed out (and sympathetic) and his attempt to claim the throne is legit.

Good battle scenes, better dialogue than we usually get and a strong cast...I give it 8/10.

I doubt it (though there is a little tie-in in the post-credit scene.)  It's basically just setting the stage for BP to join the fray.
