The continued destruction of tradition
« on: February 02, 2018, 10:17:01 AM »
According to what I read, the College Football Playoffs are moving away from the traditional bowl sites for the final game and booking venues such as: Dallas, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis

Remember when "we'll work within the current bowl structure" and then "we'll add one game, but at a traditional bowl site"  and now "let's do just like the NFL."

This is quickly becoming a game I do not love.  It hasn't been the same for me, honestly, since the BCS.  My interest has steadily waned.

As infuriating as it was, I miss the old bowl/poll system where there were sometimes three or four teams in play for the NC heading into New Year's Day.  It meant something.  I used to care about minor bowls.

Now?  I didn't care when we played Oklahoma.  We didn't care when we played UCF.  If you're not playing in the playoff games, anything else is just an opportunity to get somebody injured.

Get off my lawn.

We all hated the BCS. Not because of the rankings. They had finally gotten those pretty close to right. Because it did not include enough teams at the end. If they had just kept the BCS and added the extra game, all would have been much better. I think we still need 6 or 8. But this format is too subjective with a committee.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Adding more teams won't fix it if we stay with the committee. And we will because what else is there to do?
