What's up with all the grumblings about Kodi transfering? Where there's smoke.

Your D is no joke though. Those mutherfuckers hit and hit hard.  I'm quite suprised and impressed with them. Of course a freshmen QB came in the game and put it on that D so........still  It's a shame they have to suffer at the hands of possibly one of the worse offenses in college.
You guys keep up with the Beatdown farks too. They're pretty funny.

I still stand by the fact that it was a hard fought game that could have been won. Auburn played good enough to win. Special teams lost the game for us.

I don't know about crack, but at the time of typing that, I was pretty damn tired.

Tell me, how can you be so optimistic of our football team?  Saying that we simply played better doesn't cut it for me.  Miss St's offense played better against GA Tech than they did against us.  They actually scored a touchdown.  Yet, I still think they suck because they got obliterated 38-7 by a team that had a first year coach and had installed a brand new offense.  

Think about that - a team that is going through the same growing pains with LESS talented players put up 38 points against a team we couldn't score more than 3 against.  

Our offense did look better.  They actually scored TWO touchdowns!  That high-flying pass happy offense is really turning it on now!    

It wasn't special teams; it wasn't our defense; it really wasn't our offense.  It was T-O-M-M-Y T-U-B-E-R-V-I-L-L-E.  Scarbinsky had it right this morning.  Les Miles is 3-1 against Tubs and has an SEC championship and a National championship because of one definitive difference: The Hat plays to win; Tuberville plays not to lose.

There were 5 mins left in the second quarter, and we had two timeouts left.  That's 1/3 of a freaking quarter to put some points on the board.  What did Tubs order?  RUN DOWN THE CLOCK.  That's not winning a football game.  That's playing ultra conservative.  A lot of people are whining about the defense in the 4th quarter.  Well, unless my eyes deceived me, we went up 21-20 and then made LSU go 3 and out.  Should have been the damn ball game thanks to a awe-inspiring effort by our Hard Hat D.  But no, we get the ball back, run left, incomplete, run right, punt.  That's poor game management.  That's a River Boat sinking.  

That's the main reason why we suck and will continue to suck.  I'm not okay with going 9-3 and 8-4 every year.  I'm really not okay with going 11-2 with blowout losses to Arkansas and Georgia and barely getting by South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Alabama when they're playing bad football.  I want to dominate opponents like we sorta did in 2004.  I want to make a statement by stepping on the opposition's throat.  

Now, for our team, if Kodi Burns ain't playing, it has to be because he's not getting it done in practice.  Chris Todd got lucky.  There were four throws that were just as easily in our opponent's hands as they were ours.  I will admit, he made some nice plays when he needed to, but I want to have a QB who is a general on the field.  He reads the defense, checks his receivers, and delivers a bullet to the receiver that he chooses.  Seeing this happy-go-lucky footed Franklin Guru hop around until he finds a place to lob the ball isn't going to cut it.  Don't attribute this to LSU's defense.  We were no better passing the ball against LA Monroe or Miss St.  

As I said last night, we played better than we really were.  We got lucky on some throws.  We have no running game (zone left and zone right ain't gonna cut it in the SEC).  The Franklin screens aren't doing what was promised to us.  Instead of having the amiable presence of Al Borges, we're stuck with a sloppy jerk-off who is having similar results.  

Last season - Cox was 18-28 for 199 yards and 2 TDs.  We had 97 rushing yards.

This year, Todd was 17 of 32 for 250 yards and 1 TD.  We had 70 rushing yards.

It could have been won, I agree.   Special teams was really bad and a contributing factor, no doubt.  But not the only one. 

If you take away a couple of big plays, the offense was still stagnant.  The running game has all but vanished.  I can see when Todd attempts to run (and when I watch Pat White) what it COULD be if you had any remote running threat at quarterback, but AU just doesn't have that at all.

Well I'll be damned, the sun did come up this morning. And after a nights sleep and trying to look at this game with more clarity and less emotion I can definitely say our offense sux ass. I say this based on the coaches decisions. I'm not gonna restate every miscue since they've all been stated earlier. I'd just really love to see some aggressive play calling for a change instead of this pussy shit. Damn, damn, damn...

Well, from my vantage point, I think the offense executed the plan that was given to them pretty well. The offense (not including one left tackle <cough> Lee Ziemba) played pretty well. Hugh Nall needs to run that motherfucker until he pukes. This is 2 straight games he has fucked up royally. His man came in untouched - Ziemba wasn't within 5 yards of the guy - on the final drive. Had it not been for that 15 yard sack, I think we could have pulled it out. Chris Todd didn't lose this game.

I do agree that the play calling leaves a lot to be desired, No killer instinct at all. How much of this is Tuberville's doing, I don't know. Someone mentioned earlier that the coaches didn't call the plays that would keep the foot on their throats. Playing not to lose will get you beat a lot. We need aggressiveness.

Overall, I was pleased with the way the guys played last night. It was a hard fought game and another classic LSU - Auburn match up. There were some on this board who predicted LSU was going to rape our cattle and kill our wimmins, but that didn't happen. Auburn gave them all they wanted and then some.

The crowd last night was louder than any I have witnessed at JHS and they didn't let up the entire game.

Talon, you said the sun did come up.  I now becasue I watched it.  Word to the wise, when you have 2 1/2 hours of driving ahead of you late at night and you've had a long day of adult, liquid refreshment, don't down one of those 5 hour energy hit things, chased by a Red Bull and then Gatorade.  I could have driven to Gatlinburg.  4:00 a.m. staring at the ceiling with my heart thumping through my chest.  Saw Sports Center 5 times this morning.

I stood next to some troy fans last night and what upset them was that franklin doesn't seem to be running the offense the way he did at troy. Taking way too much time between snaps. Losing the advantage of the fast no huddle pace. It almost seems as though he is having to run the play thru approval channels first or something.

I say if we want to be conservative run a fucking conservative offense. If you want to run the spread then run the bleeping spread, not some falsified version that we have been running.

Why must we lose 2 yards off tackle after every successful pass play? Whay must we refuse to make a legitimate attempt for a first down when all we needed was one or two to run the clock out? Why do we open it up all the way down the field and then go all conservative once whe get it inside the 30? WHAT IS UP WITH THIS CRAPPY FREAKING PLAY CALLING?

Why do we play like we're afraid to lose and lose to teams that aren't?

You guys can knock miles all you want. He is one helluva coach and not afraid to go down with guns blazing and put the game in the hands of his playmakers. Unlike tubs who seems to get more conservative as our roster gets better. He is beginning to remind me af a skinny phil fulmer when it comes to offense. Thank God he knows his defense. And I love the guy, don't get me wrong. I love what he's done for Auburn. I just wish he would stop coaching like he is afraid to lose all the damn time.

One thing I noticed last night was that LSU blitzed every fucking play. Why? Because Chris Todd is no threat to run the ball. Sure, he did the first series of the second half, but seriously, he must run the 40 in 8 seconds or something.
Another thing. Todd has an arm like my 80 year old grandma. If our receivers didn't have to come back on two or three bombs, we score two more touchdowns and run away with the game.
Lastly, what the fuck is the point of the no huddle? If you line up and then get the fucking play called in the defense has just as much time to "rest" as it does if you had a fucking huddle.
Todd completed one pass per series that kept his ass in the game. I still would have put Burns in after the first fuck-up we had in the redzone.

I watched the game again twice.   I am more convinced than ever that if our wagon remains hitched to Chris Todd, said wagon is headed for the ditch. 

A quarterback with a live arm -- or a quarterback with live legs -- would have significantly changed LSU's plan of attack.  LSU did not respect his ability to run.  Give him a 15 yard opening, he'll lumber for two yards. LSU did not respect his ability to pass.  Leave the safety half way across the field, he can still close on an open receiver fast enough to disrupt the play. 

You can say whatever the hell you want.  You can talk about "promise" and "improvement" and all that nonsense.  What we have at the moment is a quarterback who embodies the very worst characteristics of the last three slow, white quarterbacks we've had.   His arm is worse than Brandon Cox's.  His decision-making rivals that of Daniel Cobb. And he's got the speed of Ben Leard. 

I've watched that game three different times and you can blame special teams, defense or point the finger whereever you deem fit.  But the fact remains that all of those issues were a direct result of PISS FREAKING POOR QUARTERBACK PLAY!  DAMMMIT.  DAMMIT TO HELL.  Defense in a spot? Because the QB choked.  Special teams has to bail them out?  Because the QB blew it.  I'm sorry, but that's the alpha and omega of this situation.  As long as Franklin has his mouth attached firmly to Chris Todd's scrotum, this offense and this TEAM will continue to be wasted. 

DAMMIT TO HELL I am SICK TO DEATH of lamenting what could have been

First and foremost, this loss left me feeling much better about this team than the 3 wins.  I never felt like we were outmatched or out-classed and we were in that game until the end.  No shame at all in this loss to the defending national champ.

Now the points of concern:

1) Young DBs (Thorpe and Etheridge) were getting abused by a RFr QB.  Youth in the secondary will inevitably bite you in the ass at some point.  The kids will learn and improve.

2) Chris Todd, as has been previously noted again and again, has the arm strength of coma patient.  Those "quick" passes to the sideline would be much more effective if the CB on the Z receiver didn't have time to run across the field, make a sandwich and throw a piss bomb into the crowd before body-slamming the X receiver.  The guy is heaving the ball like a shot-put, with predictable results.

3) The inability to gain a first down and seal the win.  Play-calling and execution both get the gas face in this scenario.

4) Defense couldn't stop that slant pass to Byrd.  A defensive stop seals the deal.

5) We've lost the ability to control our destiny in the SEC race.  We're now hoping that someone else can knock LSU off. 

All in all, I like our chances at a 10 win season.  Not many teams can match up with, and for the better part of the game outplay, a team as talented as LSU.  The rest of our schedule, UGA excluded, is loaded with good teams, but no team as good as LSU.

Can't argue with anything here.  Play calling to run off the clock was the biggest issue for me.  You've got to be able to run more than 30 seconds off the clock with 5 remaining and a win on the line.   This also brings in the "taking your foot off their neck" mentality of our coaching staff.   That HAS to be improved for your 10 win scenario to break out.
