At what point did truth become horror?

Trump allegedly says we need to restrict immigration from shithole countries.  In a closed meeting. Can't be verified.

Shitholes are outraged.  Why?  They are shitholes.  Everybody knows it.

And Democrats can call the south and flyover countries much worse, and it's ok?  Got it.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

My unsolicited take, which I consider to be leveling with you, but you will inevitably take as an attack...

Calling an impoverished dilapidated country with a corrupt and uncaring government a "shithole" is not inherently racist just because their population is mostly brown.

CNN went off the rails over it. Don Lemon opened with "The President of the United States is a racist." Anderson Cooper literally wept as he told a story about his time in Haiti. They had this guy that seemed like he was just itching for an opportunity to use every racial epithet under the sun.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuTReBPNx88&feature=youtu.be&t=2m16s

In fact CNN basically became the episode of South Park where they put a counter in the bottom of the screen for every time they said "Shit".

In my humble opinion, they're spinning their wheels, as they often do, focusing on the wrong part of why what Trump allegedly said was bad. Haiti *IS* a shithole, but that is more reason why its people *NEED* to seek refuge from there in the first place. The fact that it's a shithole country doesn't mean it contains inherently shitty people. But as usual, everyone's going to freak out in frothing rage over the completely wrong part of what he said that they should.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

But I agree, however, that we should work on attracting the best and brightest (rather than driving them off with onerous taxes) rather than hauling in nets full of refuse.

Hey, I'm also in favor of the "points" system Trump tossed around in place of the diversity lottery. That's a different conversation, and one I'd probably end up mostly agreeing with you on.

I'm not saying erase the border and just let anyone in who wants in, but framing it as "Why are we taking in these people from shithole countries" is just wrongheaded.

There's nothing dictating that "the best and the brightest" can't come from a shithole.

Phrased poorly.  What he meant is accurate.

If people want to come here he wants contributors, not drains.

I used to work for a guy whose mother came over on a raft from Cuba after his dad got swept up by Castro. He was a contributor. Worked hard.  Built an empire.  But he was the exception. Others who came when he did tried to be Scarface with significantly less success.

Not saying best and brightest can’t come from squalor.  I’d just rather we be selective.

South Korea could be considered a shithole country prior to the Korean War. Now they are westernized and part of the global marketplace.

So all we need to do is have a war in Haiti, Africa, and any other shithole that needs upgrading?

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Sad to say, but that's not far off the mark.

In WWII we killed or incapacitated the enemy, imposed our will and restructured their economies.

Look at Germany (up until the last few years).  Look at Japan.  Even South Korea.

The "let them restore their own order" peacenik nonsense doesn't work.  If we want to solve the problem in the Middle East?  Unleash our great vengeance and furious anger on those who attempt to poison and destroy our brothers.  Eliminate the caliphate, put in a western government by military occupation, prove that the American way of life (or what it used to be) will allow the people to live and prosper in safety and security.   Then and only then will the people take care of perpetuating it.  All of a sudden we've got oil-rich allies.

Want to handle North Korea?  Quit threatening the chubby bastard.  Ramp up and take his ass out.  Military occupation until the people take control.

I've moved firmly into the kill 'em all camp.
