Another 1-0 win against the PNC Pirates. Hamels goes 7 innings with 5 hits. Last two games, pitching has showed up. Lester gets his groove back and Hamels goes 3-0 has a Cub.

Cubs have the best winning percentage in the NL (.587) but I think 6th in MLB. NL seems to be much more competitive but at the same time the Yanks could be playing Wild Card with a .623. Crazy.

So 6 weeks to go, and the NL is a logjam.

East:
Braves up on Philly by 1/2 game.

Central
Cubs up on Brewers by 3 1/2 and Cards by 4.

West:
Arizona up on Colorado by 1/2 game, and Dodgers by 2.

Wildcard:
Philly and Colorado virtually tied with Milwaukee, who are up 1/2 game on St Louis and 1 1/2 on the Dodgers.

Cards head to LA today for a 3 game set with the Dodgers and then the Rockies.

Cubs have a two game set at Detroit, then head home to take on the Reds.

Braves on the road at Pittsburgh and Miami this week.

If the Cards can win these next two series, that should put them in the lead in the Wild Card standings, and give them some breathing room on the Dodgers. Cubs and Braves should be able to at least go 4-2 over the next 6.

So happy the Braves get out of the ATL. Still hanging in there and holding on to first, but a 4 game losing streak at home can't be a sign of good things to come. It may be the grind is getting to these young guys that have never played a season this long. May be just a cold streak. Who knows? But shit, don't bring me to verge of splooge and then get up and run out of the room.

Like I said, thank God we got away from the ATL. A 1-0 slugfest win in Pittsburgh. 87 men left on base again. No exaggeration here when I say this is probably 8-10 times the Braves have brought up a minor league pitcher for their first start. Probably bodes well for the future, but damn, shouldn't you be set in your rotation at this point in the season?

Still in first place and still trying to find their way. Cards up early on the Dodgers in L.A. Come on Birds. Beat that ass.

Two games on the road and 1 run allowed, total. Series win at Pittsburgh. But tomorrow may be a different story. The Pirate pitcher, forget his name, has only allowed 3 runs in his last 37 innings. I'll take 2 of 3 in every series.

Buzz is prophetic as the Tigers take game 1 from the Baby Bears. Cards just getting started in L.A.

The Indians have been whipping my bandwagon Red Sox. They've fucking turned it on since the All Star break and torched their division. Definitely a team to watch.
