He would be an improvement for them regardless. Like gf said, a .600+ winning % is far better than what they've collectively had since fulmer. He may not be a long term solution for Tenn but he could maybe stabilize them out to a bit of normalcy and put them in position to hire the long term solution.

Sumlin is 53. He's a good coach and most importantly, a winning coach. He'll be in high demand for some time to come. Coming off the Aggie gig, (Pun intended) I'd take a small chunk of those millions he just stuffed in his mattress, take some time off and wind up somewhere on a beach with a cooler of cold ones right beside my chair. Then, I'd see when ESPN wanted me to come in and talk some foosballz next season. Take a year off, recharge the batteries and let the offers roll in.

Jumping into the UT dumpster fire? Don't think so.

Having said that, UT will announce Sumlin as HC in the next 24 hours.

Sure, why not, get a three year contract with a buy out. You really can't do any worse that what has been happening lately, good coach comes along they fire you for him, you take your two years of pay and improve your golf game.
