What if anything can Auburn do about the NCAA dragging its feet well beyond a reasonable timeline and halfway into the season to make their decision on qualifying Wiley and/or Purifoy? This seems like malpractice on the NCAA's part at this point and a reckless disregard for the well-being of the student-athletes. Is not having an active Athletics Director hindering this process? What could possibly be taking this long?

The two back-to-back Okeke 3 pointers was the difference in the game. UT never recovered after that.

Quote

Bruce Pearl’s pregame 4-14 t-shirt lit a fire in his players and they responded with one of Auburn’s biggest win in a decade.

The Tigers pulled off a road upset over No. 23 Tennessee 94-84 Tuesday night, their first win in Thompson-Boling Arena in 20 years.

The t-shirt was in response to a prediction from CBS Sports’ Kyle Boone that Auburn would finish 4-14 in conference play.

“Our coach opened up with that 4-14, He just told us about that and that’s all that’s been going through our heads,” said junior guard Bryce Brown, who was one of two Tigers with 18 points. “Right now we’re playing with a huge chip on our shoulder just showing everybody we can play against anybody, and knocking off a Top 25 team was very big.”

With its 11th-straight win, Auburn improves to 13-1 on season and 1-0 in the SEC. It’s also AU’s first road win over a ranked team since 2007.

Chuma Okeke made back-to-back 3-pointers and Brown another 3-pointer to spur an 11-0 run and put the Tigers up 80-68 with 3:17 left. Auburn made 25-of-29 free throws including 9-of-10 the final 1:08 to ice the game.

Okeke, a true freshman playing in his first conference game, finished with 11 points, making 3-of-4 3-pointers, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block before fouling out.

“The thing about this team is they’ve got confidence in each other,” Pearl said. “Desean Murray, who is a real leader on this team, doesn’t play very well … and all of a sudden Chuma, who’s just a freshman, plays a great game offensively and defensively. It’s a very good team effort.”

Auburn trailed by 14 midway through the first half but used a 23-6 run to go into the break leading 42-36.

“There’s a good amount of guys back and that’s what helped us. We kept our composure as we were down big. Not very big but big enough to where an average team would have hung it up right there,” Brown said.

The Tigers had to fight through major foul trouble throughout much of the game as two players fouled out and three more finished with four fouls.

Brown and Jared Harper led Auburn with 18 points apiece. Brown made 5-of-12 3-pointers and Harper 10-of-11 free throws. Mustapha Heron added 16 points and Horace Spencer 10 points and nine rebounds.

“When my starting fours and fives, Desean Murray and Anfernee McLemore, don’t have their A-games and Chuma Okeke and Horace Spencer come off the bench and play great and physically and do all the kinds of things you need to do, it was spectacular,” Pearl said.

McLemore had six points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots as AU out-rebounded Tennessee 46-38 including 22-14 on the offensive glass.

“We had 22 offensive rebounds and they had 24 defensive rebounds. That just speaks to the unbelievable effort and energy our team plays with,” Pearl said.

Auburn returns to action Saturday against Arkansas at Auburn Arena. Tip-off on ESPNU is set for 5 p.m. CT.

22 offensive boards with our heighth. That's some want-to.
Plus, we nail our free throws and make them work like that.
We can win a heap of games playing like that.

@AUBlog
Nope. Bruce Pearl has not said that. Auburn's compliance department is working to determine their eligibility. That has been the only official word from Pearl.

The NCAA is not detetmining their eligibility. Auburn's compliance department is. If Auburn rules them ineligible, it can apply to the NCAA for reinstatement. Per Pearl, that has not happened.

So the bottleneck is not with the NCAA Reinstatement Center or the FBI waiting on Chuck to take the stand or anything like that.

The wound is self inflicted because Auburn.
