Jay Jacobs is resigning as Auburn's athletic director. In a letter sent to donors Friday afternoon, Jacobs said earlier this week he informed Auburn University president Steven Leath he would step down on June 1, 2018, "or sooner if my successor is in place.""The last several months have been a particularly difficult time," Jacobs wrote in the letter. "Across several sports, a series of controversies have arisen. They have begun to take their toll and have raised questions about why Auburn must endure such problems. As I have always done, I have worked my hardest and best to do what is right for Auburn."I believe in Auburn and will fight for Auburn. But as I consider the future and what is best for Auburn, I have prayerfully decided the time has come for me to step aside. Sometimes a new direction and new leadership are helpful in moving beyond current problems.
Skreets are saying his replacement is going to be the current Senior Vice President and CIO of the NFL, who is an Auburn grad...and a woman.http://www.auburn.edu/main/spotlight/Michelle%20McKenna-Doyle.htmlhttps://www.cxotalk.com/bio/michelle-mckenna-doyle-cio-national-football-league
No. Cam would scoff at this development. He might even snicker.
Mixed emotions on this. Not JJ leaving, thank you Jesus. The woman being the AD. This could go one of two ways. She could be more of a stickler for every little whiny thing.Or she could be a stabem in the heart and twist the knife fan of AU.Women in power DO NOT PLAY! I hope she is this type of leader. We need someone who is a take no prisoners fan of AU.Time will tell. But praise the lort, JJ is gont!
Whatever. He still gets to pick our new coach before he leaves.
