Papa Is Pissed
« on: November 02, 2017, 09:13:39 AM »
Well, he didn't say "pissed".  Listening to Mike & Mike this morning and they had Adam Shefter on, who is always pretty knowledgeable about the 411 in the NFL.  I saw a couple of articles posted on this but didn't read them.  Anywayz, he was talking about how Papa John's is blaming the NFL and the protests for a decline in sales.  PJ's is one of the top sponsors for the NFL and have deals with over 20 teams.  He said they were pulling back some of their advertisements on NFL games.

He went on to say merchandise sales are way, way down and some of the owners he's talked to have admitted they're getting hammered on season ticket sales and knows it's the same across the entire NFL.

Looks like the fans are taking back some of the power.  How easily these players forget that we are the one and only reason they get to do what they do and make the millions they bank.

Some of them are just that dumb.

Some have even said "you don't like our kneeling, then don't come to the games". Absolute idiocy.

Yes but not as dumb as the fans who continue to go, IMO. At least the ones that don’t support kneelers.

This writer thinks it's the product's fault that millions were lost so quickly.

Now, I'm not denying that their pizza sucks. But, the stock can't plummet this quickly ONLY because of that. They are PO'd at poppa for blaming the NFL. Say he is tone deaf.

Papa John’s Founder Blames Declining Sales On NFL Anthem Boycott

Umm, maybe your sales are declining because people are finally realizing your pizza is subpar.

Another day, another instance of someone diminishing the focus of the NFL national anthem protests. This time it happens to be the founder of national pizza chain Papa John’s, who claims that the company’s recent declining sales are due to the current NFL boycott. Sigh.

Earlier this week it was reported that Papa John’s founder and CEO John Schnatter lost a whopping $70 million in mere hours, as shares of the pizza chain fell down 11%. Forbes was the first to report the huge company loss when Papa John’s released its third-quarter financial report. However, despite the company’s financial problems and figuring out how it happened, Schnatter has decided to blame it on the ongoing NFL boycott.

Via Forbes:

The net worth of John Schnatter, founder and CEO of pizza chain Papa John’s, fell $70 million in less than 24 hours after the company released its third-quarter financial report on Tuesday afternoon. Investors were not pleased with that news and sent shares down 11% through 12:30 pm Eastern Time on Wednesday. The stock is now trading at just over $60 per share.

Schnatter blames part of the downturn on the National Football League, which has faced turbulence amid widespread national anthem protests in the past year. “The NFL has hurt us by not resolving the current debacle,” he said on a conference call on Wednesday. Papa John’s is the league’s official pizza sponsor.

So far 2017 has been a challenging year for the restaurant chain. It has lost a quarter of its market capitalization since the start of January. Its future looked significantly brighter earlier this year. Shares hit an all-time high in December 2016, and Schnatter made ‘Forbes’’ list of the World’s Billionaires for the first time in March. He has since fallen off the ranks.

Um, sir please. The fact that Schnatter completely misses the need for the initial anthem protests that led to the current boycott just proves how tone deaf the 1% can be. Instead of placing the blame where it belongs, he decides to use an obvious scapegoat. Perhaps concentrate on making a better product and things could change…or not.

Fuck Danielle Jennings.  He is wrong.

There was no “need” for the fucking protests.  Bitch.

While the protests may not explain all of his pizza woes, it’s a proven fact that all things NFL are off because of the dumbass protests and the way the league coddles criminals and thugs.  People are tired of it.

This shit is going to keep on and there will be a middle class revolution.

But one day later, Greg Creed, CEO of Yum Brands, which owns Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC, was asked to comment on the claim.

“We’re not seeing any impact from any of that,” Creed said on Yum’s earnings call.

Papa Johns is an official NFL sponsor. Yum brands/Pizza Hut—to my knowledge is not. Boycott the nfl people—and I am one—are tasked to boycott the league and its official sponsors.

Why boycott something or someone who isn’t an official sponsor?

Edit: but now that I know this about yum, I won’t be making any south of the border stops either!

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Yeah, for the most part, Papa's is pretty solid for delivery.  Nothing jizz-worthy but a decent pie just the same.  At the end of the day, it's just delivery.

Best pizza ever?  Giordanos 3-Meat Deep Dish in Chicago.  One...maaaayyybe two slices and you're done.  Oh, and cold beerz.
