Ole Miss just can't help it.

http://www.nwfdailynews.com/news/20171026/local-media-host-mckinney-charged-with-fraud

Scott McKinney charged with fraud. Again. Cheaters.

For those of you who may remember McKinney ran the Southern Sports Tonight radio show where he and some old coach talked a lot about what was for supper.  Max something.  McKinney was a raging Ole Miss homer and his unwarranted arrogance helped build the disdain Kaos has for the Rebel Black Bear Ackbar Sharks.

There was a message board associated with the show McKinney ran. SECTalk.net.  That board gave birth to a legend called Galen.  There were some classic wars there between Galen,  an Ole Miss fan who called itself Benthelus, and an LSU homer by the name of Big Bengal.  The scorched earth of those wars dwarfs anything we've ever seen here on this board including the Kaos v. Chopperv4.1 skirmishes.  There's probably still smoke drifting over the Mississippi Delta from those nuclear battles.  Galen was banned there multiple times, but always found a way to return.

McKinney was the ultimate douche.

Kaos came close to working for/with the assclown.  He was trying to set up a regional sports site -- probably similar to what Clay Travis eventually did -- and offered Kaos money and a piece of the action to join as a writer.  As it turns out, that was McKinney's scam.  Lots of people owned 50% of his company.  Lots.  Kaos was smart to walk away.

BTW?

In looking for stuff about McKinney, I came across this piece of glorious info:

Those were good days.

Southern Sports Tonight, or some such.

A few friends (McKinney has made the Destin-area his home) got taken by this huckster the first time around.

A friend who has been in outside sales his entire life (think your classic traveling salesman) was approached about 20 years ago by McKinney, who was looking to unload some tablets that would improve your gas mileage by 300% or somesuch.  My buddy, familiar with the scam product, counseled Scott that Destin is a small town and such shenanigans would surely bite him in the ass someday.

Yep.  Southern Sports Tonight.  When I was driving home from Starkville I listened to that show sometimes.  If I remember right, it came on after Herb Winches on the sports station I could get.

McKinney's proposition to me was that he was on the verge of taking the show into syndication and he needed a strong and interactive website to support it and help make his case.  He couldn't offer much cash initially, but once the syndication came through it would rain from the skies.  Since he didn't have the cash up front, he'd be willing to offer an ownership stake in the company in exchange for coming on board as a contributor.

I'm not brilliant.  The stupid reason I turned him down was that he was an Ole Miss fan and I didn't trust him.  He was really short on details, too.
