Bobby To UT?
« on: October 19, 2017, 11:00:31 PM »
Forget the title of this thread.  Do any of you get Chuck Oliver late in the afternoon?  He comes on for 2 hours on our ESPN affiliate from 3-5.  He talks college foosballz 24/7 and is a pretty straightforward, SEC centric talk show host.  Spent time at AU.  He tells it like it is.

Anywho, I was listening today and he mentioned that Petrino's buyout clause has a contingency wherein it's cut in half if Juric (sp?) is no longer the AD at Louisville.  It now amounts to around $4 Mil.  Oliver was speculating that Tennessee would most likely be pushing hard to land BP with that reduced buyout coming to light.  The problem for us, assuming a change is coming, is that Butch is far more likely to be kicked to the curb immediately, given the collapse of UT football.  Would you be in favor of a  2nd plane trip to lock a guy like Petrino down?  Or is Bobby off your radar?

Discuss amongst yourselves.

I like Bobby's take-no-prisoners style, but his numbers are trending pretty poorly...with Lamar Jackson.

Some woopigger posted his record against top 10 teams and it's pretty bad.

Add to that his personal baggage and I think we can do better.

I would not have screamed if we took him instead of Gus a few years ago. But I really don't want him now.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

He and Stidham would kill, the WRs would get their touches and the backs would have larger lanes because of his play calling. I've never seen any of his QBs fail, even fresh off the bench replacing the starter.
But I don't know that he has that fire as he once had nor do I think he would come back to Auburn.

Still, he would have beaten Clemson and drilled LSU with our talent. Not to be.

Agree

Although an upgrade over chizhead and malzanney, I think that ship has sailed with bobby and at this point the baggage bothers me more than it did 5-6 years ago.

We can get a up and comer mid whatever that wants to build things his way OR you go get a winner NOW, say for 3-6 years, an experienced winner. The landscape of college football is dragging behind the advances of social media but it is changing.

I don't like Petrino, don't have to, don't like a good deal of head coaches. He's not an Eagle Scout troop leader. Not coming to AU anyway.

Now that we have a playoff, I don't think most people put MNC...never mind. Just realized I'm replying to Dallas.
