You're right. He never comes to Gallant. He hasn't spent any time in Etowah County in the 36 years I've been alive. Definitely haven't had any dealings in the last 10 years. I'm just an ole liberal who believes every single thing the media has ever said about someone. You really figured me out.
There are political people I don’t like in my part of the world. Let’s start with Bradley Byrne. Can’t stand the guy. There’s a LOT of talk down here about him.
That’s not why I voted against him, though.
If a bunch of these gossips started yapping to the media about some 40 year old shit regarding Bradley I’d have this exact same stance. I find it fucking appalling that a couple of old shrews supported by nothing more condemning than an innocuous yearbook scrawl can shreik and point and completely ruin a man’s career.
I’ve seen this hysteria a lot in my life. There was a teacher/coach we had in Juco. Cool guy. Younger. Not married. Some of us who played hung out at his apartment. We brought our girls sometimes. All we ever did was watch movies, watch games, talk shit and hang out. But then one of the guys brought a girl who was dating somebody else, the boyfriend got pissed, he made accusations. His parents got involved. The girl lied. The school admin got involved. Started asking questions. Did he provide alcohol? Was he involved with any of the girls? Was he gay? I watched people i thought I knew lie. They told what they thought they wanted to hear. And a good guy, decent coach who did nothing more than give us a place to hang out where we wouldn’t get in trouble was run out of town.
That was 30-something years ago. You go to that town even today and mention his name? Some old fuck will tell you how he was banging the girls at the college, fucked the dean’s wife in the gym, had gay orgies at his apartment and had to leave in the middle of the night before the parents had him arrested. Or some such garbage. Over the years I’ve had girls tell me stories of how he made moves on them — girls who were NEVER even there or part of the circle that was. Do they believe it? They probably do. But I was around then. I know it didn’t.
I’m sure you’ve heard stuff about the guy all your life. I’m sure that every interaction you’ve had with him has been colored by those things you heard. His smarmy, holier-than-thou demeanor probably only makes it worse. (Ironically, Chizad should take notes here...).
If you’ve seen something personally, or have some evidence of something beyond the whispers among the townfolk? Please. I want to know.
But this? The badly doctored annual and some fuzzy 40 year old bullshit? I’m not buying it. Is he creepy? Maybe. Did he look upon teenaged girls with a lustful eye? Perhaps. If so he’s no worse than any random dozen 30-year old guys (except Snow White Chizad apparently — pfffttt). But did he force himself on anybody? I’m just not seeing or hearing anything that lends any truth to that at all. None. You know yourself that people with rapey tendencies don’t typically alter that behavior. If this were true it would have continued. Zero evidence it did.
I’m not buying it.
He’s NOT who I wanted. He’s just all I have left. No other options.
