If you watch one video today, watch this video. Watch Auburn quarterback Sean White show you what leadership means.
Two days after learning he'd lost this year's quarterback competition to Jarrett Stidham, White was under no obligation to meet the press Wednesday. Or any other day, for that matter.
He didn't have to answer questions about his injury-plagued past, his current status as a backup and his uncertain future beyond this season. He didn't have to share his feelings with the world, especially when the predominant feeling had to be disappointment.
But White did what he's done throughout his Auburn career. He didn't hide. He didn't make excuses. He didn't blame anyone for the situation in which he finds himself, a situation less than ideal for him as an individual.
Sean White was pretty sure what was going to be said when he walked into Gus Malzahn's office on Monday.
Instead he set an example all of us can follow when things don't go our way. He demonstrated that the best thing about college football is college football players like him.
It wasn't the first time. As former colleague Brandon Marcello of Auburn's 247sports site noted during the interview, White consistently has met with the media "after the worst moments of your playing career."
Marcello asked him why.
"I think it's just fair," White said. "A lot of people want to know what's going on. A lot of people have a big stake in what's going on here, and they follow it and it's important to their life so the least thing I can do is come out and speak to you guys.
"You guys have a job to do, and I know it can be tough at times. I just try to come out and be respectful and do the right thing, basically. When you can face adversity, it makes you better. When you can come out in a tough time, it's going to make you a better person."
Injuries, illness and real-life adversity aside, times don't get much tougher for a college football player than losing a job you'd won more than once before. People don't handle that rejection much better than White did here.
So watch and learn. Watch and admire. Watch and understand something. You don't have to be an Auburn fan to be a Sean White fan - but if you're not a Sean White fan, what's your problem?
