I can confirm that the cussing of the old lady did occur. A riot damn near broke out. Section 46 was angry that day, my friends - and this was before the game even started.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. I doubt there will be another X-gate as epic as that one, nor more drunken shenanigans experienced in one afternoon than those that occurred that day.
