Obviously, I disagree.  I just think the military budget shouldn't be sacrosanct.  There is as much bloat in that budget as any other.

Or should we just use it wiser? It's obviously big if it's as big as the next 8 put together.

Don't reply to him. He had been waiting weeks for the opportunity to use "sacrosanct" in casual conversation.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

Ahhh. Maybe so.  But it comes down to need.

Nobody needs HHS.  DOE should disappear. That's a state issue.

We need soldiers and the equipment to maintain a strong defense.  We need to be able to pay enough to get better ones than dallas.

I think you meant DOED, not DOE.  And I agree with you, education is a state's right issue in my opinion.

Also, by HHS do you mean Health and Human Services or did you mean DHS?  I think DHS should go away totally.  Maybe make the CIA and FBI, oh, I don't know, share information between the agencies.  DHS was a $100 Billion a year knee jerk reaction to 9-11.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

Dept of Ed.

Dept of Energy isn't much of an issue in regards to the budget.

Same with HHS vs DHS. I have issues with DHS but the budget aint one of em .

Correct.

And still. Bloat vs level of need.

Think of it in terms of an episode of Hoarders.  Get rid of the garbage first.  Dept of Ed goes in the 1800Junk bin. Toss HHS in there.

Then deal with the disease.  Figure out how to best maintain necessities.

I don't have a problem with the military budget if they had one.  My problem is their is no auditing system.  By all means spend what it takes to protect our soldiers (and thereby us) but costs should be reasonable and accounted for.  There is no accountability.

Here's the thing that's encouraging to me.

Trump is not yet 90 days on the job.  Yet here we all are discussing things like healthcare, the defense budget, immigration and social programs. We may disagree on the issues, the severity of the "crisis" and the methods of resolution.

Still we are all here with the expectation and anticipation of change. Of compromise. Of action.

How different is that than the last eight years where we were force fed steaming platters of pandering shit and told we must like it?

This is the revolution I wanted.  A chance to be heard above the wails of the minority so that ideas could be legitimately debated without anything that ran counter to the PC left being demonized.

I'm encouraged.

This is what Hope and change really looks like.
