Byrne is a good AD. I know some things about the reasons he left MSU. That being the case I do wonder how he's going to reconcile the massive cheating that is part and parcel of that program in every sport. If he, like one former AD, tries to shut it down they won't make the same mistake they did before and allow it to happen. That program simply cannot function if it stays within the rules. When forced to do so it becomes what it truly is -- barely average.
If Byrne really tries to rein it in? He won't be there three years. There's a reason that school almost always pulls back a former player to be AD.
That said? Byrne is the real thing. He's not a self-inflated car salesman clown like we have.
