Uncompetitive Auburn Teams - Using the CFP's "Eye Test" To Assess the Program

You can technically still be in the game yet know as a fan that our chances of winning are extraordinarily thin or even nonexistent based on what you're seeing on the field. We somehow nearly won the Clemson game this year but everyone I hope can admit that the offense was such a clusterfuck that the eye test would say no way. Too fucked for repair.

My biggest point is that from Tuberville to Chizik, our number of embarrassing displays of football increased. It has increased even more under Gus.

It's simply another angle to consider when evaluating this program. Perhaps my ultimate goal is to construct an argument for Jay Jacobs to be fired.

I don't know. As JR would say, nothing we write here matters but we come here to discuss Auburn football.

Yep.  That's where I am. I don't recall walking away from games feeling embarrassed at the ineptness of our performance under dye or tuberville with a few exceptions.  Franklin's meerkat offense was one of those. I always felt like our coaches did a good job with the talent they had and almost always gave us a chance to win.

Now I think we have more talent than the records show and what's holding us back is coaching buffoonery.

Under Gus, there have only been 2 games that I honestly had no expectation of winning.  Last year and this year against Bama.  Every other game since his arrival, including this past Monday night, I thought we should win or at least have a realistic chance of winning.

But Monday night was a glaring example of one of several deficiencies the man has shown as a coach.  As long as Sean was healthy and we were running the ball, there was no reason for that game not to go down to the wire.  As soon as White got injured, the game was over.  Finished!  Kaput!  No plan B.  No back up QB capable of running the offense.  Game, set, match.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

Going into it? Or during the game?

I'm focusing on what we see after kickoff. Sure, I'm hopeful every game that we'll win. But too many times the ball has been kicked off and I've said, "This offense/defense is so bad, this is barely worth watching. Outside of 2003, it was rare to feel that way under Tuberville even in many games in 2008. We're averaging almost four a year under Gus.
